I don’t know much about hotel rates and I didn’t even stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. I figured, though, that it was common knowledge that if you want to stay at a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, it’s gonna cost you a pretty penny. And the rack rate probably won’t include a breakfast buffet in the morning. But Andrew Dziuk, who apparently just wanted to sleep off a bout he lost with demon rum Wednesday night, was surprised at how much they wanted for a well-appointed room at the Pentagon City Ritz in Arlington, Virginia. Well, more than just surprised . . .

The full bust-out retail rate for a room at the swanky joint is $599 a night. But from the sketchy accounts, Dziuk evidently wanted something lower, perhaps closer to the $149 weekend rate they advertise. No dice, though. Maybe the desk clerk was put off by the two guns on his belt.

HuffPo says,

Dziuk became “irate” over the luxury hotel’s prices, Patch reports police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck as saying. So much so that he pulled two loaded guns, including a cocked pistol, on a security guard. The guard called the police, who arrested Dziuk.

So rather than draining his wallet and sleeping one off in the Ritz’s nice digs, Dziuk ended up without his shoes and belt on a cot in the county jail. But he wins cause that room was free.

No matter where he was when he opened his eyes Thursday morning, he probably woke up with a helluva headache. And the dull thudding likely didn’t get any better when he heard about charges of brandishing a firearm, reckless handling of a firearm and being drunk in public. So we hope learning that he’s been named our IGOTD provides the calming influence he probably needs right about now.

  1. Oh that room in the house of many steel bars is NOT free. He wil be paying MUCH MUCH more than the $599 in fines, lawyers fees, lost wages, etc.

  2. He sounds like one of you guys, lawful gun owner at least up till yesterday. He probably had a concealed carry permit too, being from Virginia and all.

I couldn’t open the link, so I surely hope I got the facts straight.

    • Wow, every time I read one of your comments it reminds of one of my favorite sayings: “It is better to be thought a fool, than to open ones mouth and remove all doubt”.

    • “I couldn’t open the link, so I surely hope I got the facts straight.”

That’s kinda like shooting first and asking questions later, ain’t it Mikey?

      OOPS

    • Sounds like one of us????? I don’t seem to recall anyone here advocating negotiating hotel room rates at gun point while drunk. So Mike, I believe you need to FLAME DELETED and then FLAME DELETED after you FLAME DELETED. (I censored myself, so don’t blame the site guys).

      • Exactly so. I think the views and comment totals are the reason this thing id’d as mikey is allowed. I would love an ignore feature so I would never have to read his drivel ever again. What I would give for an intelligent voice of dissent that actually discussed facts. But then we would have a grabber turned pro 2a

    • Just the same as car aficionados are DUIs waiting to happen, doctors/lawyers/any other profession with a “practice” are malpractice cases waiting to happen, yadda yadda yadda.

Try harder, unless there’s something specific about this group y’know that you aren’t sharing.

(I wonder how you’d make your silly little comment ’bout somebody like me who doesn’t even drink but I suppose such things are trivial at best to you.)

    • Mike302000? If you want to convince people to buy into your opinion, you must first support your argument with valid facts and supporting data. ” just because I said so…” doesn’t work and usually doesnt unless you’re talking to a four year old. You’re trying too hard to be ” one of the cool kids”. I’m not advocating that this site’s view is the only view to have, or the right one to have. It’s typically the right view for me, and I’m guessing anyone else who chooses to read it on regular basis. “The cool kids” are on both sides of any issue. It just depends on personal perspective.
You remind me of a kid who isn’t picked for either team in elementary school playground game. If somebody would JUST pick you and listen? It’s obvious you’re the best player around. You KNOW it. You come across disgruntled, angry and irrelevant. I’m not even sure you actually have an opinion based on concrete data and personal experience that relates to this topic.
I’m willing to bet you attempt to create conflict and disagree on any and all sites
Your purpose is to instigate not inform, and gratify your own ego.
Initially my first thought when I see ” mikeb….” is to skip over the entire post. Now? It’s a little game I play to see how much information I can gather with minimum effort over a 5 minute time span that clearly invalidates the statement you’ve made. So, if your goal is to convert unbiased readers to take position that’s opposite of your “convictions”? Well done.

  3. Why is it that a broad flame of everyone on the website doesn’t get deleted but when those on the site individually retaliate it is FLAME DELETED? Seems a freedom of speech issue to me… If one is allowed to flame then all should be allowed to flame. Seems fair to me.

    • Buuurr, if you mean that you’d like to tell mikey to go FLAME DELETED himself, I must say that would be completely wrong. I’m fairly certain that it would be impossible for him to FLAME DELETED himself because he has no FLAME DELETED.

      See what I did there?

  4. Mikeb302000’s comment above is probably the best comment he has written so far that shows his true lack of understanding of America. Not so much as what is written alone. But the snarkiness and attitude that is implied is what is telling. Taken in context of the comments written before, his attitude is well understood.

“He sounds like one of you guys, lawful gun owner at least up till yesterday.”

His above comment is meant to ridicule us. But he doesn’t get it. That is the principle on which this country is founded.

A law abiding citizen able to freely express ones rights until proven he/she is unable to handle the resposibilities associated with those rights. The legal system will process him and a jury of his peers will decide his fate.

Mikeb302000’s opinions are his own and he is free to express himself. If he doesn’t like anyone else has to say he is free to ignore them or go pound sand up his a$$. I don’t care which.

  5. Mikeb30200’s comment today is like every other comment he makes. It’s based on his own sense of self importance.
