Lancer Systems, manufacturer of the best 5.56 and 7.62 AR magazines on the market, was kind enough to loan me a L30 Heavy Metal rifle for use in my .308 Muzzle Brake Test. Although I had already shot L30s in all of the available configurations, even winning a gun writer competition with one, I still couldn’t bring myself to use this loaner solely for recoil sled testing. So, I put it through the normal review process as well . . .
In late September, Lancer Systems hosted a media event to give some gun writers a hands-on experience with its product line. I posted a recap of the 2-day shindig and what I learned about the company and its business units here, and if you didn’t catch that I’d definitely say it’s worth a glance (not that I’m biased or anything). This is the first post of what I expect will be two follow-ups, and it’s going to concentrate on Lancer’s magazine-related technology and performance. Lancer created a handful of competition-style stages and tests to try and drive home the value of its magazines and its bolt-on flared magazine wells, and I think it went over pretty well. . .
Lancer Systems invited a handful of gun writers to join them at Virginia International Raceway to learn about the company and put its products through the paces. Full disclosure: I joined in part because I’m a fan of the firearms-related Lancer products that I had used thus far and I’m surprised they don’t have more traction in the market. Additionally, I also wanted to find out a lot more about Lancer’s other business units and, hey, who could turn down the opportunity to shoot at one of the nicest outdoor range facilities in the country? If there’s anyone making great products that don’t get enough attention, it’s probably Lancer Systems. Their L5AWM series of AR-15 magazines are, unquestionably, my favorite AR mags on the market. Now they have an even more advanced design for .308. Their carbon fiber handguards are pure lightweight sexiness, and holy hell do they have a lot of options. If only I had known about Lancer’s single ring scope mount I wouldn’t be running a much larger, heavier, 2-ring unit on my 1-4x Burris . . .
