CNN is reporting that special prosecutors have submitted a filing asserting that Alec Baldwin’s actions on the set of the movie “Rust” played a significant role in creating unsafe conditions, which ultimately led to the tragic death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in 2021. The legal team for Baldwin had previously sought to have the charges against him dismissed in March.

Prosecutors contend that Baldwin has provided inconsistent accounts regarding the circumstances of the shooting and assert that he exhibited uncontrolled emotional behavior on set, as detailed in documents CNN obtained. A representative for Baldwin chose not to comment on these latest allegations.

The prosecutors’ filing highlights early incidents on set where Baldwin is alleged to have pressured the film crew and Hannah Gutierrez Reed, the armorer, to accelerate their work pace, a demand that they claim routinely endangered set safety. The document describes Baldwin as often yelling and using profanity toward crew members or expressing frustration openly, behavior witnesses say directly impacted the set’s safety protocols.

Baldwin, despite his fans and onscreen persona, is widely known for his emotional outbursts and controlling nature.

In January, Baldwin entered a plea of not guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter related to the incident, which resulted in Hutchins’s death and also injured director Joel Souza during a rehearsal. Gutierrez Reed, tasked with managing the film’s firearms, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in March and is facing a potential 18-month prison sentence and a $5,000 fine.

The prosecution also points to claims that Gutierrez Reed lacked experience and was potentially unable to manage her responsibilities on set, issues that were allegedly ignored by Baldwin, who also served as a producer. The filing starkly states that the combined effect of Gutierrez Reed’s purported negligence and Baldwin’s alleged indifference was fatal for Hutchins.

Baldwin’s post-incident public statements have also come under fire from prosecutors, accusing him of trying to influence public opinion in his favor, while Baldwin’s defense team has accused the prosecution of mishandling the situation and unjustly tarnishing Baldwin’s reputation.

Baldwin’s trial is set for July with jury selection scheduled to begin July 9 with the trial expected to run from July 10-19.

  1. He has a long, documented history of anger issues going back 30 years or so. He’s lashed out at family, his own kid, lost jobs, kicked off flights, road rage incidents, etc…

He should be Andy Dicks neighbor in the trailer park of sex offenders but somehow he’s immune to the consequences of his own actions.

    • Strych9 is convinced that the NM ‘power structure’ will let him walk, I don’t think so, this time.

It was a beautiful young mother, and particularly horrific wounds he inflicted on her, severing her spinal cord and drowning her in her own blood. Suffocating while conscious is not a fun way to die.

I only wish the maximum sentence would have been 15 years, like it should have been…

The video from the set of him acting like the arrogant asshole he really is will convict him, and the fact it’s only 18 months for a maximum sentence, is the real crime…

  2. Not to worry baldwin is white so the forum’s resident bigots will spin another senseless tragedy so it lands on the doorsteps of n-words.

  3. “claims that Gutierrez Reed lacked experience and was potentially unable to manage her responsibilities on set” – One can only wonder whether she would have managed just fine had she been allowed to do her job and given the respect due a safety specialist.

  4. Señor Baldween has a well documented lifelong history of being short tempered and threatening people and assaulting people.

I would be surprised if any reasonable judge and jury does not find him guilty.

    • Even if it is finished and released (it is apparently back in production), would you really want to go see it?

      • “Even if it is finished and released (it is apparently back in production)…

I think it will be, since part of the personal settlement with Mr. Hutchins is that he will be a producer of some sort on the project.

Those who financed it will want their investment not to be wasted, and that’s not an unreasonable request, in my book. They weren’t the ones to fuck it it up for everyone else.

What I hope he insists on is the replacement of Baldwin as the main actor…

  5. “Prosecutors Allege Baldwin’s Attitude, Actions Led to Unsafe Conditions that Led to Shooting”

O Rlly? I would have never guessed that.

  6. “Baldwin as often yelling and using profanity toward crew members or expressing frustration openly“

The boss using profanity and yelling at crewmembers?

    Is that actually a crime?

    • Not a crime, but certainly the poorest of leadership techniques in a typical work setting.

      • While studying management as a part of my business degree the lecturer said “if a manager has to resort to bullying, they are not an effective manager”. I’ve had to work under ineffective managers. They were the type you followed to see what new mess they managed to create.

        • They were just really incompetent and thought being”tough” by using bullying and violence (yes, actual physical aggravated assault) was what a “MANAGER” needed to be. But they did use proxies to avoid getting their own hands dirty (and to blame if things went really pear-shaped).

    • Well now days due to people like you…
… calling a biological man wearing n a dress a man is a crime in some places.
      So who knows.

    • “The boss using profanity and yelling at crewmembers?

      Is that actually a crime?”

A crime, probably not, in the HollyWeird business, who knows?

What is without a doubt is the current civil legal landscape, where being a horse’s ass to other people (like you, fuckwit minor) can cost you a LOT of your money, and maybe other’s money…

  7. if he gets off, but the stress causes all his hair to fall out, what would you call that?

  8. “The document describes Baldwin as often yelling and using profanity toward crew members or expressing frustration openly, behavior witnesses say directly impacted the set’s safety protocols.”

Sounds like standard Alec Baldwin behavior, the staff and crew should have been prepared to deal with the special needs of a Movie Star.

    • “Baldwin will plead “celebrity” anyway.”

Let him go right ahead, I think the jury will want actual some justice on this one.

If they let him off, their community may disown the jury. Easiest way for them to avoid that unpleasantry is to simply send him on an 18 month ‘vacation’ with ‘Bubba’ as a roommate…

  9. As a producer on a movie set, Baldwin was in charge of how much safety or lack thereof, there was on the movie set. It appears that his bully tactics were the reason for the unsafe inspection of lethal firearms on the set. Whether or not he actually pulled the trigger is irrelevant. He caused the whole situation to become unsafe. You don’t play with guns. Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows that. Dummy guns that look and operate like real guns are available. Sound effects can replace the use of blanks. If our politicians had any real balls they would pass legislation that prohibits the use of real lethal operating firearms for play acting.

    • “As a producer on a movie set, Baldwin was in charge of how much safety or lack thereof, there was on the movie set.”

That’s why the video of him on the set ordering the crew to “hurry up, reload” Will bury his sorry ass…

      • unfortunately it will not.
resetting a film set can take some time and with concerns about daylight and weather being a factual issue for filming the use of “hurry up, reload” has a different meaning to them then to us.

  10. Actor Alec Baldwin made a small error that would not rise to the level of a crime in any sane jurisdiction.

Producer Alec Baldwin committed numerous acts that individually and collectively meet the standard for negligent homicide in any sane jurisdiction.

The problem for the prosecution is to get the jury to recognize the distinction and separate those two roles, because the defense is going to emphasize that Actor Alec Baldwin had an accident that could reasonably happen to anyone.

      • He’ll be persona-non-grata among the Hollyweird set for a while until he schmoozes his way in.

    • i dunno about that honestly reading the actor training means even an actor should be able to call a stop.

    • “The problem for the prosecution is to get the jury to recognize the distinction and separate those two roles, because the defense is going to emphasize that Actor Alec Baldwin had an accident that could reasonably happen to anyone.”

Normally, yes, this instance, I seriously doubt it.

The video of him saying “hurry up, reload” and the ample evidence of clear bullying combined with the graphic photos of the autopsy (Did you see the shocked and stunned look on the armorer’s face in her trial when those pics popped up for the jury to see?) will convict him.

The jury will be local folks, they saw the whole thing play out in detail as it happened, and they will be interested in justice for that poor woman.

I seriously doubt they will have a problem in getting a guilty verdict, especially when the penalty is only 18 months. They know the backlash they will personally experience if they do, and they will have zero problem with avoiding that by simply convicting him.

The murder of little Caylee by Casey Anthony was different, the prosecution was unable to prove without a doubt she did it, that’s not at all the case with this one…

    • ummm, no.
      does not work that way.
actors are still responsible for there actions.
and the meme at the top shows that.
he has decades of firearms use in movies and the required safety training that came with it.
his well know EGO has him think he is better then anybody else.

  11. Only 18 months for pointing a loaded gun at a woman, thumbing back the hammer (I can’t use the c-word for thumbing back the hammer without being sent to moderation), pulling the trigger, and killing an innocent woman.
Because Alec Baldwin is a celebrity, wealthy, and anti-gun.

By contrast, how many years in prison is that Michigan CPL holder facing for defending himself from a fight by simply “brandishing” (not firing, not pointing at anyone, just showing his pistol with the barrel pointed down) in a Krogers grocery store? He got charged with “felony assault with a deadly weapon” just for that and is facing years in prison even though nobody got hurt!

    I rest my case.
