A Pendleton man at 3:43 a.m. called 9-1-1, whispering he is in a house across from an upholstery shop on Southwest Court Avenue and some guys are trying to break in. The caller gave a name and said he was in his friend’s house and does not know the address or even the color of the residence. He also told dispatchers that his friend was in the house, but the caller would not give his friend’s name (or, the dispatcher noted, “it was unintelligible as most of the conversation was.”[)]
The man called 9-1-1 several more times around 4:17 a.m., whispering again. “On all subsequent calls, he would not give a more specific location than ‘Court Street,’ and that there was someone there to get him,” the dispatcher reported. Each time the man disconnected line when the dispatcher asked more questions . . .
The man called again at 5:15 a.m. and gave an understandable name. He said he “was extremely paranoid” and “there were several subjects outside the residence with shotguns,” the dispatcher reported.
Officers determined the house was at 507 S.W. Court Ave., and while caller said there were people outside with shotguns, officers were sitting directly outside the residence and saw no one.
The man repeatedly refused to open the door and meet with an officer. Police finally cleared out because the man refused to cooperate with them.
