Bill Would Ban Online Ammunition Sales

U.S. Congress debate over banning online ammunition sales

Not content with the many anti-gun bills they constantly push each legislative session, Democrats in the U.S. Congress are now taking aim at infringing on the rights of gun owners to purchase ammunition.

Earlier this week, U.S. Rep. Kweisi Mfume, D-Maryland, and Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, D-New Jersy reintroduced the Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act, which would ban all online ammo sales despite no proof that ammunition purchased online is regularly used in the commission of violent crimes.

“Since we last introduced this bill, the crisis of mass shootings has continued unabated,” Rep. Mfume said in a press release announcing the legislation. “We’ve been living with this scourge of violence for so many years as assault weapons and enormous amounts of ammunition continue to fall into the hands of diabolical people. Mass shootings are not going to stop on their own, and we cannot keep waiting for the next one to occur.”

The Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act would require federally licensed ammunition dealers to confirm the identity of individuals who arrange to purchase ammunition over the internet by verifying a photo I.D. in person. The bill would also target recreational shooters who buy ammo in bulk for the cost savings, requiring ammunition vendors to report any sales of more than 1,000 rounds within five consecutive days to the U.S. Attorney General.

For her part, Rep. Watson Coleman claims the measure is another “commonsense” one, just as anti-gun Democrats claim about all of their gun-ban proposals.

“For years, we’ve watched the toll of gun violence grow while Congress fails to act. The numbers tell a devastating story, but behind every statistic is a family and a community grieving their loss,” Rep. Watson Coleman said. “Regulating online ammunition sales is a commonsense step to countering the number of mass shootings we see every year. This legislation closes the loophole that makes tragedies like these so unfortunately common.”

If you weren’t aware that purchasing ammunition online was a “loophole,” now you know. What these Democrats and their cronies in Congress really want to do is close the “private gun ownership” loophole, and this scheme is just another way to do that a little at a time.

Opponents of the measure say the legislation places undue burdens on legal purchasers without addressing the root causes of criminal violence. Also, the measure would disproportionately affect rural and disabled Americans, many of whom rely on online retailers due to a lack of nearby brick-and-mortar options.

“Despite referencing regulatory models from countries like Australia, the U.K., and New Zealand, those comparisons ignore the constitutional protections uniquely afforded to American citizens under the Second Amendment,” USAcarry.com stated in a news item on its website. “If enacted, H.R.7166 would effectively eliminate the online sale of ammunition to private citizens, forcing every purchase into a physical storefront and under federal scrutiny for even moderately-sized orders.”

The measure has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee for consideration.

It is not “anti-gun.” It is Gun Control. And what Defines Gun Control? The History of Gun Control inarguably Defines Gun Control…That’s Chiseled.

If the backdoor History rewriting continues soon the 1968 Gun Control Act will be known as the 1968 anti-gun Act.

There are two items the democrat party wants very badly…
      1) Hide the Rat in democRat with democratic.
      2) Keep the History of Gun Control secret.

To whom it may concern…if you are a bigoted, narcissist dumbfuk who stoops so low to bark at Defining Gun Control by its History chances are good one day some savy pencilneck Gun Control zealot is going to bend you over and f stupid out of your ignorant blowbag behind.

      • Actually, between the Salton Sea and a newly discovered lode, we have more than enough to last until they find something better than lithium to use in batteries.

  1. Democrats?
    They don’t control the House.
“Take the guns first due process later” damn that Joe B.
and don’t take a gun to a protest, (unless your name is Kyle)that part of exercising your Second Amendment won’t be tolerated, no siree , not with this pro gun administration.
It’s okay, its okay. Everything is Big and Beautiful.
Did I just fall in for pile of bullshit?, nah, couldn’t have I vote Republican.

    • Kyle didn’t take a gun to a protest. He was a security guard on private property after the local police decided tactically retreat in order to de-escalate. The protesters came onto the property to loot and vandalize. I guess that’s what protesting encompasses now? The protesters wanted his firearm and decided to requisition it for the cause. How did that work out???

  2. Is online the only way to make ammo purchases?
Guess all the sport houses are closing!
Guess the bad guys will now run out of ammo.
This is as dumb as blaming the gun.
It’s the bad person holding the gun you morons.

There is no bottom in the pit the minds of these types live.

    • Here in NJ, sporting goods stores don’t sell ammunition, department stores don’t sell ammunition, and Walmart doesn’t sell ammunition. Only FFL dealers sell ammunition, and those are few and far between. The FFL dealer only stocks the most popular ammo, not the 300 different calibers you can buy at MidswayUSA or other online stores. When buying ammo at an FFL dealer, we New Jersey denizens have to show a Firearms Purchaser ID card for any “handgun ammo” (as if there’s ammo that only fits handguns–what a stupid law). If online ammo buying is banned and we have to buy it at our FFL dealer, then it’s easy for anti-gun lobbyists or burglars to take photographs of who parks at FFL dealers and who walks in and out of FFL dealers and dox us for harassment by making a “list of gun owners” or target our house for burglary. My local gun store (LGS) is on a main road and to get inside the LGS, you have to park your car a ways away and walk down a main street where not only can you be seen by thousands of cars per hour (including my wife driving home from work), but it’s easy to get robbed when you walk out of the gun store with a package in your hand that muggers will suspect contains a handgun. No, we’re not allowed to be armed while going in and out of the LGS, so we can’t defend ourselves from being mugged when we walk out of the LGS with a package that muggers think contains a handgun.

  3. The Democrats, whp are more like Socialists every day, want to disarm the citizens of this country, and will do everything they can to achieve their goals. Or should I say China;s goals, as that is who pays for them.

  4. An article on Breitbart today speaks of how a new Democrat move is to drive a wedge between Trump and his 2A supporters.
This can be easily thwarted by Trump stepping up an demanding the DOJ stop defending the registration part of the now defunct tax stamp, having THE ATF and DOJ declare that MSR’s and standard capacity magazines are in common use and that all band against them are unconstitutional.
    Then enforce it.

  5. This will be great…there are few if any gun stores in the big cities, making it much easier for the turds to trade us their firearms for a sandwich one week after they start their “Revolution” without any ammunition. Our local gun and hardware stores will stock plenty…fortunately, it will be an extremely short, relatively bloodless “Revolution” because of Liberal stupidity: Cities are obligate consumers, country people produce everything and there is less than a week of supplies for every urban center in stock.

So no water, fuel, electricity or food for Kwesi and Coleman or their millions of friends…because all that stuff comes from outside their cities…and with this law they will have no ability to shoot back on their way to Conservative Re-Education Camps.

    Legislate away, Fools…

    • Here in NY it ended up creating a lot of new reloaders and people discovered a lot of good shops in PA, VT, NH who quickly learned we are also interested in body armor. Downside of course is that such bans do make everything more expensive and reduce options but ultimately your above points hold until we get into asymmetric threats and drones where things get ugly for everyone really quickly.
