Lawyers in the George Zimmerman homicide trial will present opening arguments on Monday. Earlier today, Circuit Court Judge Debra Nelson impaneled six jury members to hear the case of the self- appointed neighborhood watchman accused of the Second Degree murder of Trayvon Martin. [NB: only capital murder cases have a 12-member jury in Florida.] All six jury members are women. One is Hispanic. Or a “lighter-skinned black woman,” as miamiherald.com describes juror B29. Although the jury’s racial makeup reflects that of Seminole county—where just under 10 percent of residents are African-American—it’s bound to add fuel to fire for those looking to fan the flames of racial hatred.
