New From Lone Wolf: Blank Slides, G9 Updates, and New Barrels

2016 is bringing a lot of change to Lone Wolf Distributors. The biggest piece of news may be that all of their Alpha Wolf barrels and their new slides are fresh designs that are manufactured in the U.S. Lone Wolf will undoubtedly be selling a lot of blank slides or “OEM slides,” which ship as a GLOCK slide “rolling chassis,” if you will. All of the functional bits are already machined, and company XYZ can simply finish out the exterior however they want and slap their own name on it. Also . . .

The G9 AR-15 style lower receiver, reviewed here, has received some updates. A recurring comment on that review (including on the YouTube video) was that it was silly to retain the full-sized magazine well dimensions — although I like how it maintains a more traditional AR-15 look — when the GLOCK mag is so much shorter front-to-rear. Lone Wolf has indeed chosen to slim it down a bit.

They’ve also flared the trigger guard and increased the size of the mag release button. Note that the one seen here is still a pre-production prototype.

The Alpha Wolf barrels are fluted, nitrided black, and come in much nicer retail packaging (more of a thing for dealers wanting to display them on hooks). I picked up a threaded one so I can slap a suppressor on that G19 MOS I’ve been carrying, and it fits nicely and has so far functioned just right.

Here are a few more photos of the blank slide, including one I saw in the New Product Center being advertised by a different company under their brand name. And it could be 100% made by them, of course, as not knowing if LW provided the blank is kind of the whole point of this “white label” slide offering. I wonder what I could come up with at home with a bench vice and a Dremel tool.
