Earlier today, a grand jury indicted one Louisville Metro Police officer in connection with the shooting death of Breonna Taylor during a police raid earlier this year. The indictment handed down, though, was for reckless endangerment of people in surrounding apartments due to one officer’s gunfire. None of the three cops were indicted for Taylor’s death.

Protests in downtown Louisville have escalated of throughout the afternoon.

And tonight, someone opened fire on some of the assembled police officers, hitting one of them.

The night is still young and the mostly peaceful protesters seem determined to escalate the rioting whatever the cost.

UPDATE: NBC now reports that two police officers have been shot.

Update: This post has been corrected to remove a reference to the execution of a “wrong address” warrant. The warrant that was served did, in fact, list Breanna Taylor’s address. We regret the error.
