“Hornady® Zombie Max™ ammunition is for use on ZOMBIES ONLY, and that’s not a nickname, phrase or cute way of referring to anybody, place or thing. When we say Zombies, we mean…ZOMBIES!”

Traditionally, Hornady has appealed to the high end market. People who take their shooting seriously enough to pay serious money for their cartridges. They’re paying for ammo that’s accurate, dependable, deadly. In that order. Hornady’s pre-Halloween release of Zombie ammo is a major marketing jump sideways—and a hit. Our friends in the industry report brisk sales. And it’s all just a bit of fun, innit mate? That said, this new video takes the Hornady brand in a new direction, adding interpersonal—OK person to zombie—violence to the marketing mix. While the company has never shied away from showing true life hunting hits, point blank head shots to a [somewhat] human from an AR takes it to another level. Judging from the YouTube comments the reaction to Zombie Max cuts both ways . . .

bowley:

absurd… cant believe the marketing team for hornady would OK such a demeaning product to the gun community… yes, go ahead and latch on to the COD-nazi-zombie-young-would-be-gun-owners… what a shame. the rest of us will be purchasing REAL ammo, for REAL horrific situations and/or hunting…

pillowdude:

I dont even own a gun but I’m picking up a box after watching this shit.

keithmti:

I’m buying nothing but Hornady ammo from this day on. I will name my next child Hornady also… well maybe my next dog, but whatever.

The comments are pro anti-zombie ammo, on balance. But then people who aren’t into this stuff wouldn’t click on the email blast link in the first place. The question is, would it put them off the Hornady brand? And what will the company do for an encore?
