Antis Protest FedEx Discount to NRA Members

Wait. FedEx has a discount for NRA members? Who knew? A call to FedEx’s 800 number connected me to an agent who’d never heard of such a thing. From there I went over to the NRA’s extremely long list of NRA member discounts with national companies — which doesn’t include FedEx. The NRA’s customer service rep couldn’t find any commercial arrangement between the NRA and FedEx. And yet . . .

There it is! If you, an NRA member, sign up for the NRA Business Edition Visa Cardyou can get big savings on shipping using FedEx with your NRA membership! Just enroll in the FedEx Advantage® program using passcode FVMK8W13. If that doesn’t work, just call 1800-475-6708 for more information. Anyway . . .

According to the bloomberg.com story cited in Ms. Hyland’s Tweet, an association of antis is “launching an online campaign and plans protests on Wednesday at FedEx retail stores in Denver; Atlanta; Memphis, Tennessee; and Orlando, Florida.”

Bloomberg boasts that the FedEx protesters come from ten “gun safety” groups: Guns Down (“My freedom doesn’t need a gun”), Color of Change (“the nation’s largest online racial justice organization”), the Newtown Action Alliance and Pride Fund to End Gun Violence (“leading the way toward positive cultural change”) and Gays Against Guns (“breaking the gun industry’s chain of death”).

Wait. That’s only four. And the list doesn’t include the two of the largest (discounting the astroturf aspect) civilian disarmament crusading orgs: Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. Both of which depend entirely on the largesse of bloomberg.org’s owner, Michael Bloomberg, for their existence and influence. Something to do with FedEx advertising perhaps?
