Springfield has a reputation of crafting the firearms of battle from their 1911s to M1As and even modern renditions of the AR-15s of old. They also added into their arsenal in recent years the iconic Browning Hi-Power design – the P35 – which Springfield dubbed theirs as the SA-35. Now, at SHOT Show 2026 they announced a new Polished Blued SA-35 for even more curb appeal.

I want. California says I cannot have. Gorgeous piece.
How about a fourth reason to own one. They are one of the best, and most elegant, defensive pistols ever seen. No handgun battery is complete without one.
Sigh. I know it’s impractical, and it’s a fingerprint magnet, and any holster wear will break your heart. I want one anyway. It’s a beautiful expression of craftsmanship, because it has to be done by hand. No robot can do this for you. (Yet.) Actually, $799 is surprisingly low.
Jim, that is a very low price. I bought my first Hi-Power when I was a young man. I still own one. So does my son. He’s still a young man. As a bonus, I don’t believe it’s made in Turdkey.
Common thinking is that the frame/slide/barrel/internals are supplied by “a turkye based subcontractor” ( tisas, girsan) for US assembly and final finishing – which coincidentally meshes with the disappearance of Turkish hi-powers. Remember, SA isn’t a manufacturer as much as an importer/broker.
That said, this at first look appears to be a nice offering.
Think of it as a modern day Colt Junior. Sold and marketed by Colt but actually made in Spain by Astra.
Okay, I’ll be the one to say it.
Meh.
I like a nicely finished pistol as well as anyone, but I also like pistols I like to shoot. For some reason the BHP has never “worked” for me; there are enough others out there that do, that I feel no obligation to spend time and ammo budget to figure out exactly why this one doesn’t.
Looks nice, hope they sell a bunch, have fun storming the castle, etc. For those who want it, enjoy!
Attention Springfield armory!
Make a TRP version of the high power that is ready for duty use!.. and for God sakes put some checkerring on the front strap, please!!… the problem with these high power clones is that none of them are really considered reliable enough to take to a Chief or Sheriff get approval to use it on the street!..It’s time to make one!!
