Back in December of last year, we reported that a version of the Safariland 7TS holster had been selected to serve as the Army’s new issued M17 holster. Photos of an issued unit have surfaced in the Facebook group Primary & Secondary that not only show the manual, labeling it as the “Army Modular Handgun Kit,” but also a good look at all the components that a soldier can expect to receive.
It appears that the kit will include several QLS Adaptors that allow the soldier to quickly reconfigure their holster setup without tools. Also in the holster kit is a low ride Safariland UBL with a QLS mount attached, what appears to be a belt mounted QLS mount, and a QLS mount on a drop leg with a thigh strap.
The kit obviously will include a version of Safariland’s 7TS holster in either tan or black based on information in the post.
An additional holster may be procured later to accommodate a light or light/laser unit. A holster that’s compatible with the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro may also be necessary as the M17 and M18 are further kitted out.
The contract awarded to Atlantic Diving Supply is a $49 million firm-fixed-price contract for the M17 and M18 handgun holsters.
