“Scottish ministers want the power [from Britain’s central government] to cap the number of guns that can be owned by any one person after figures hit a record high,” dailyrecord.co.uk reports. Let’s try that again. “The number of licensed firearms in Scotland has risen by almost a fifth in the last 10 years but there are fewer licensed owners.” Translation: British gun control is driving down the number of legal gun owners but the number of guns the gun owners own is too onerous for the Scottish parliament. That excessive firearms ownership stat would be . . . three (71,860 certificated firearms held by 25,831 residents for an average of 2.78). “It concerns me that gun owners, even those with a legitimate need for such weapons, can accumulate multiple firearms and that there is no apparent limit to what can be held.” Apparently, Scottish Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill seeks to “better control the number of lethal weapons in society and thereby help to protect and reassure the Scottish public.” Don’t laugh. This could be you. [h/t Ike]
