“Volunteers at a thrift store in Didsbury, Alta., north of Calgary, were stunned to find a sawed-off rifle in a bag of donated clothing,” cbc.ca reports. “The .22-calibre gun was discovered at the bottom of a bag that had been left in a drop-off bin for the Knox United Church’s charity store. The gun was taken to the RCMP detachment, where officers said it constitutes a prohibited weapon because the barrel was was cut below the minimum prescribed length. RCMP are treating the incident as suspicious. The rifle will be sent to the RCMP forensic laboratory in Regina for ballistics testing to see if it can be linked to a crime, police said. Anyone with information about how the rifle wound up in the donation box is asked to call police.”
