This year at SHOT Show, Tim Tang, President of Maxpedition, gave us a tour of some of their new products. Naturally, we focused on their various bags and accessories that have CCW applications and work well at the shooting range . . .

Backpacks, messenger bags, laptop bags, cross-body shoulder bags, wallets, holsters, and more…

For some reason I really liked the round or round-ish, reinforced grab handles that appear on many of Maxpedition’s bags. They look good, feel good (and solid), and are rigid enough to stand proud so they’re easily found, plus won’t squash your hand if the bag is really heavy.

The product lines of backpacks are pretty extensive, with packs suiting just about any possible size, intended use, and attachment system. Many are modular, with the ability to add/subtract or expand/squish compartments as needed.

Relatively hidden (when zipped closed) CCW pockets exist on many styles of packs. On the Veldspar here, a tug on the snap tab will open up the compartment. It’s lined with a soft material that feels somewhat like velour, and acts as the “loop” side for hook-and-loop fasteners.

For instance, hook-backed pistol holsters and other accessories (magazine holsters, universal holsters, various pouches, etc.) allowing the user to securely mount guns and gear inside the compartment oriented as they please.
