Post-Newtown Gun Control Support Plummets 10%

When Thomas Jefferson first cast eyes on a copy of the U.S. Constitution he recommended a one-year cooling off period for all federal legislation (save for “emergencies”). And for good reason. As New York Governor Cuomo is learning after his suspension of a three-day cooling off period for the SAFE Act, legislate in haste, repent at leisure. That said, in the post-Newtown push for civilian disarmament, gun grabbers knew that time was against them. Still is. To wit: a new CBS poll reveals that “Currently, support for stricter gun control laws stands at 47 percent today, down from a high of 57 percent just after the shootings. Thirty-nine percent want those laws kept as they are, and another 11 percent want them made less strict.” Note: this is also a cautionary tale. It seems clear that another spree killing could push support for CD right back up, maybe even higher.
