Lonegan wants Menendez charged for holding a rifle during press conference

Republican congressional candidate Steve Lonegan said Friday he plans to seek criminal charges against Sen. Bob Menendez for briefly holding a display gun at a press conference while standing next to a county sheriff.
Lonegan said Menendez (D-N.J.) violated New Jersey’s strict law on gun possession when he picked up an unloaded and tagged AR-15-style rifle from a display table during a press conference last month and held it for less than 20 seconds.
“I don’t believe this is what you need to go hunting. I don’t believe this is what you need to defend yourself,” Menendez said at the early March event outside the Essex County Public Safety Academy, while standing next to Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura. “The only thing this does is kill as many people in as short a time as possible.”

Drake Speno, 13, took put pen to paper after being put on lock-down and being forced to watch as bloodied survivors fled the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
The teen, who attends Westglade Middle School, right next to MSD, wrote to the president on February 18, four days after the massacre, begging for him to stop accepting NRA donations, as well as urging stricter background checks.

They were the biggest and most important gun makers in the country, and there was a really substantial archive about the Galtons. I think that’s not an accident. When Samuel Galton got into trouble with the Quaker church for being a gun maker, he printed a defense giving all his reasons why he was at ease in his mind. This family of Quakers was able to live with easy consciences, which made me wonder, “Are my assumptions about Quakers right? Are my assumptions about guns right?” For that to make sense either I’m misunderstanding Quakers, or misunderstanding guns, or misunderstanding manufacturing.
[Galton] says there’s nothing wrong with what he’s doing; anything else he could do would inevitably contribute to war. That opened up a whole new way of looking at the Industrial Revolution. I started to wonder, “What if we’ve all missed the big story about the Industrial Revolution? That so much of it was driven by war, to the extent that it would be hard to be a person of industry without being involved in war?” I persuaded myself that Galton was right. Sitting where he was in Birmingham, it would’ve been hard to be an industrialist and not be contributing some way to war.
The Galtons also had a bank that was founded on their gun wealth that was later folded into what is now HSBC. The other big Quaker banks connected to Galton’s work were Lloyd’s and Barclay’s. This wealth from gun-making is still with us today.

In England, an anti-knife charity called Only Cowards Carry dedicates itself to “weapons awareness” and places bins around cities for knife disposal, all of which feature the group’s name as a slogan.
With all due respect to CEO Caroline Shearer, who started the organization after her 17-year-old son was stabbed to death in 2012, this campaign should trouble any person who understands the natural right of self-defense, and the right to armed protection enshrined in the 1689 English Bill of Rights and the American Second Amendment.
Reason demands that true courage be defined by a person’s willingness to defend the life and liberty of himself and those around him.
Disarming law-abiding citizens demands, on the other hand, that courage be defined by a person’s trust in the police to imprison the correct suspect after the person is already dead.
That is not only absurd, but dangerous.

Gun rights activists will gather at state capitols across the country Saturday in a demonstration of unity following weeks of anti-gun rhetoric that included a call for the repeal of the Second Amendment by retired Supreme Court Associate Justice John Paul Stevens that outraged gun owners.

Organized by a group calling itself the National Constitutional Coalition of Patriotic Americans(NCCPA), these rallies are a response to the anti-gun “March For Our Lives” protests last month. Those demonstrations brought forth tens of thousands of gun control advocates as a response to the Feb. 14 school shooting in Parkland, Florida in which 17 students and adults were allegedly killed by suspect now in custody and facing multiple first-degree murder counts.
Marines Working with the Army on 5.56mm Rifle Round Replacement
What would you choose if you were the Marines’ procurement officer?
A senior Marine Corps official confirmed today that the service is lockstep with the Army’s effort to search for a rifle round more potent than the current 5.56mm round.
For months, senior Army officials have been telling Congress that the current 5.56mm Enhanced Performance Round is not potent enough to penetrate enemy body armor plates similar to U.S. military-issue rifle plates such as the Enhanced Small Arms Protective Insert, or ESAPI.
As a solution, the Army is experimenting with a plan to replace its M249 squad automatic weapon and M4 carbine with futuristic weapons that fire a 6.5mm case-telescoped round or something that falls between a 5.56mm and a 7.62mm round.
Apparently Charlie Kirk will not be allowed to speak at Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS, despite being invited by Kyle Kashuv, and Patrick Petty (whose sister was killed).
