“At 16 months the implementation of the second phase of the Security Strategy Tamaulipas, nearly three thousand suspects have been arrested by federal and state forces for various offenses,” eldiariodesonora.com.mx reports. “The commanders of federal and state forces that make up the Coordination Group Tamaulipas reported that the fight against crime and insecurity is strengthened increasingly, allowing better results in safety.” The Tamaulipas Coordination Group (GCT) claims the cops and federales have . . .

arrested 2,976 suspects and seized 4,709 firearms (3,948 long guns and 761 handguns), 54,877 magazines, 1,384,605 cartridges of different calibers, 776 grenades, 23 rockets, 125 grenade launchers, 4,592 land vehicles and 1,214 slot machines. Yes well . . .

As Breitbart reported in June of last year, the Tamaulipas government is notorious for under- and non-reporting criminal activity. Would you tell the truth about the Tamaulipas? The area is home base for the Gulf Cartel, known for murdering journalists, politicians and rivals and corrupting officials throughout the region. Wikipedia tells us that . . .

[The Gulf Cartel’s] network is international, and are believed to have dealings with crime groups in Europe, West Africa, Asia, Central America, South America, and the United States. Besides drug trafficking, the Gulf Cartel operates through protection rackets, assassinations, extortions, kidnappings, and other criminal activities. The Gulf Cartel is known for intimidating the population and for being “particularly violent.”

The Gulf Cartel is fighting an ongoing war with our friends the Sinaloa Cartel (recipient of firearms via the ATF’s Fast & Furious program). In case you missed it, Tamaulipas is a free fire zone. Impressive as it may seem. the scalps and equipment claimed by the CGT are nothing more than window dressing.

In fact, one wonders how many of those confiscated firearms were held by citizens trying to defend themselves and their families from the carnage gripping the region. Pity the region’s autodefensas, the armed citizen militia trying to protect themselves against the cartels, the police, the military and their own government.
