Springfield Armory Daily Digest: Criminals in the UK, a ‘Tyrant Registry’, and Kudos for Liars

Police fear gun links between UK crime gangs and terrorists –  “Counter-terrorism officers believe the fact Britain is surrounded by water gives police a significant advantage in controlling the flow of guns into the country. But senior figures say a recent increase in the numbers of guns seized from criminals is making them ‘anxious’. (National Crime Agency chief Lynne) Owens said preventing the supply of guns has ‘never been a more significant priority’. ‘Criminal networks, who think nothing about who they sell firearms to, present a significant route by which extremist groups will try to access the sort of weapons used in recent attacks in Europe.'” Wait…aren’t these kinds of guns specifically outlawed there? It’s almost as if criminals and terrorists really don’t care about laws banning guns like these in the UK.

BREAKING: “Tyrant Registry” Lawsuit Amended, Adds Massachusetts Man Also Served ‘Takedown’ Notice” – “’Publius’ (a pseudonym, since the challenged law carries a criminal penalty) runs a political blog under the alias “The Real Write Wringer” and writes extensively about California politics, civil liberties, and the Second Amendment. They, through their Web host, were served a censorious takedown letter from the California Legislative Counsel threatening litigation if their ‘tyrant registry,’ which was posted after Governor Jerry Brown signed six new gun control bills into law on July 1, wasn’t removed due to the ‘grave risk’ that it supposedly posed to the safety of elected officials. Publius is a member of the civil rights advocacy organization Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC), which lobbied against dozens of gun control bills this year.”

The latest candidate in a close race CNN wants voters to be outraged about: In private, nor quips about gun owners shooting Clinton – The North Carolina Republican, locked in a tight race for reelection, quipped that as he walked into a gun shop ‘nothing made me feel better’ than seeing a magazine about rifles ‘with a picture of Hillary Clinton on the front of it. I was a little bit shocked at that — it didn’t have a bullseye on it,’ he said Saturday to GOP volunteers, prompting laughter from the crowd in Mooresville, North Carolina.”

We missed this one in time for Halloween. Still, you never know when the undead might bare their fangs: Scream, Dracula, Scream! The Vampire Hunter Colt Detective Special Revolver – “Count Dracula. Elizabeth Bathory. The Viscount de Morieve. Even Buffy’s Spike. These infamous vampires wouldn’t stand a chance against the Vampire Hunter’s Colt Detective Special. The ultimate sidearm for any vampire hunter, the silver-plated, elaborately engraved Colt .38 Special Detective Special revolver comes nestled in a coffin-shaped ebony case. Alongside the revolver are holy water, a wooden stake, a mirror, and silver bullets cast in the shape of miniature vampire heads.”

Texas Study Finds Murderers Ignored Existing Gun Laws – “Exactly what can be learned by asking those who have committed murder with firearms how they got their guns? A lot, judging from a recent abc13.com report out of Houston—and most of it has nothing to do with further restricting the rights of law-abiding gun owners. The radio station sent surveys to every killer who used a gun to murder someone in Harris County since 2014. It asked how they got their gun, what they paid, and how often, if ever, they went through a background check.” And in other breaking news, water is wet, night is dark, and voters increasingly have trust issues with Hillary Clinton.

Requirement for background checks when lending guns used to target Question 3 – “The debate over Question 3 is increasingly focused on language that would require background checks before Mainers could loan guns to each other, an issue that has allowed opponents to rally hunters and other gun owners against the ballot measure. The gap between supporters and opponents of Question 3 on the Nov. 8 ballot appears to be narrowing with one week left until Election Day. While most major ballot initiatives in Maine see their support wane as the election nears, Question 3 witnessed a significant drop in support, from 61 percent to 52 percent, while the opposition increased by 10 points, from 33 percent to 43 percent, according to two Portland Press Herald polls conducted roughly five weeks apart.” At least it’s moving in the right direction.

Dem pollster: Thank you for lying to your union members about candidates’ support for gun rights:
