By now, the arbitrary and capricious use of opaque site policies, terms and “standards” by various internet platforms to de-fund, suspend and ban firearms-related publications and businesses is old news. But sometimes the pasty-faced techno-wizards who run the dominant social media sites manage to surprise even us.

The latest victim of the ban hammer is…The Well Armed Woman.

Somehow someone at Facebook-owned Instagram was triggered by the purple-shirted brigade’s mission of . . .

[Introducing women] to the ins and outs of armed self-defense, gun ownership, gun safety, shooting skills and products for women shooters. We’ll discuss everything from permits to holsters and we’ll do it in a candid and concise manner.

Pretty scary stuff, no?

TTAG exchanged emails with TWAW’s founder Carrie Lightfoot last night and she’s mystified by what the site might have done that got them de-platformed. Of course there’s zero explanation coming from Instagram.

TWAW provides training, information and sells gear to women who choose to avail themselves of the right to keep and bear arms. The organization has hundreds of local chapters around the country that get women out to the range where they learn gun safety, do some shooting, and have fun.

Come to think of it, maybe the Instagram ban isn’t so mysterious after all.
