It Should Have Been a Defensive Gun Use: Bronze Star Marine Mugged in DC

“‘I believe this was a hate crime and I was targeted because of my skin color,’ Marquez, who is Hispanic, told the Daily Caller. ‘Too many of these types of attacks have been happening against white people by members of the black community and the majority of the main stream media refuses to report on it.'” Marquez is Christopher Marquez, a Marine you may have seen before. He was downing a burger at a Washington, D.C. McDonalds last week when “a group of teens and young men approached his table.” . . .

From Fox News:

“They saw me and crowded around … and they started asking me if I believed black lives matter,” Marquez told the paper. “I was ignoring them, then they started calling me racist.”

At that point, Marquez said he left the McDonald’s, but was knocked unconscious by a blow to his head. When he came to, his pants were ripped and his wallet, which contained $400 in cash, three credit cards and VA medical card among other items, was missing.

Hate crime or opportunistic mugging, the result is the same. Of course, Marquez was in our nation’s capital when the attack occurred — a place where gun rights go to die — so armed self defense wasn’t an option (legally). But based Marquez’s bio, he may not have been much of a 2A fan anyway.

Marquez made an unsuccessful 2014 run for Congress as a Democrat in California.

We don’t know a lot of California Dems who think much of the right to keep and bear arms. Then again, to paraphrase an old saw, if a gun rights supporter is just a gun controller who’s been mugged, we may have a new convert.
