Please note: this not my question. I scraped it word-for-word from atlantic.com‘s headline. Here’s the sub-head: “Every year, hundreds of people attend the Oklahoma Full Auto Shoot, cultivating a love for assault weapons in an era of mass violence.” It’s too bad my Holocaust survivor father’s not alive to tell John B. Fisher about the real definition of “mass violence.” Anyway, Mr. Fisher answers his own question thusly, with links aplenty:

. . .  it’s also impossible to ignore the unintended consequences of American gun culture. Gun-homicide rates in the U.S. are among the highest in the developed world. Anti-suicide advocates point out that guns increase the success rate of suicide attempts. Simple proliferation of guns has made toddlers into shooters. This is without even mentioning the threat to women involved in domestic disputes, or the disproportionate impact of handguns on African American communities. Although the anti-gun left and the pro-gun right squabble over the validity of individual statistics, the combined weight of evidence is becoming irrefutable.

Don’t you hate it when evidence is becoming irrefutable — but isn’t quite there yet? Messes up your agument. Anyway, is machine gun love morally acceptable? And yes, I realize including a video of Lil Red Danger at the OAFAS confuses things a bit. Deal with it.
