When the facts and the numbers don’t support your argument, change the “facts” and the numbers: Dems press ATF to update decades-old gun violence data – “House Democrats are calling on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to update a report it last published nearly two decades ago about gun violence to help inform public policy on the issue. The request, in the form of a letter to ATF Director Thomas Brandon, comes after Democrats staged a sit-in on the House floor this summer to bring attention to what they see as congressional inaction in response to mass shootings.”

I don’t think ‘statistics’ means what they say it means: Debunking Suicide “Research” by Public Health Activists – “Are anti-gun public health activists as statistically ignorant as they appear, or do they think their audiences are? They may be right about the journalists who parrot their parodies of scientific research. A recent article in The Trace, ‘Ten essential facts about guns and suicide’, reminded me of a pungent saying by the famous comedian, W.C. Fields: ‘If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with b—s—.’ This article is chock full of BS, ‘bogus science.'”

Standoff Leader: Carrying Guns Let Larger Message to Get Out – “The leader of a 41-day standoff at a national wildlife refuge in Oregon testified that he orchestrated the takeover to take ‘a hard stand’ against the federal government’s control of public lands and said the occupiers would not be successful unless they carried guns. Ammon Bundy’s two days of testimony have taken jurors from his family’s high-profile 2014 standoff with federal agents in Nevada to this winter’s occupation of Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, revealing the connections between the two. Bundy asserted the Nevada standoff triggered the activism that led him to Oregon.”

DA blasts pair who tried to rob guns from undercover officers – “An accused opioid pusher held a gun to the head of an undercover state trooper before his accomplice opened fire on police in a brazen daylight shootout that launched an hourslong manhunt that terrified a tightknit Roslindale neighborhood, authorities said in court yesterday. ‘These defendants allegedly set in motion events that could have gotten someone shot or much, much worse,’ Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said. ‘We’re extremely lucky that no one was seriously hurt.’” Thank goodness Maura Healey is doing her level best to ensure that fewer law abiding Bay Staters have access to firearms.

BB guns fired at Syracuse University students – “On three late-night walks during the past two months, BB guns have been fired at Syracuse University students. All three drive-by BB gun incidents happened when students were walking on the East Side of Syracuse near SU’s campus, reported the college’s Department of Public Safety. An alert was issued Wednesday — hours after the most recent incident.” Fortunately, the school is a gun-free zone so nothing like this could happen on the campus proper.

Hillary-supporting investment bank plays both sides of the fence: Goldman Sachs finally gets comfortable with guns – Lloyd Blankfein’s Goldman Sachs has found its comfort level with guns. The bank is playing a key role in Bass Pro Shops’ agreement to buy rival outdoors retailer Cabela’s for $5.5 billion. Cabela’s derives about 40 percent of its sales from hunting equipment — much of it from guns, like the Savage Arms .22 caliber on sale Wednesday for $449. “They say that all they are doing is placing the debt,” a source close to the deal said. “But look, they own the interest of a company that makes most of its money from selling guns.”

Getting ready for the Russkis: U.S. Army Adds Some Big Guns to Stryker Infantry Vehicle to Counter Russia – “Called the Stryker Enhanced Lethality Program, the effort was implemented as a rapid-development acquisition program to better equip 9-man infantry units with combat arms to support their missions, maneuvers and ground-attacks. ‘It is really about mobile protected fire power for the Infantry Brigade Combat Team. In the Combat Vehicle Modernization Plan it talks about every vehicle having an organic blend of those capabilities… mobility, protection and firepower,’ Maj. Gen. David Bassett, Program Executive Officer, Ground Combat Systems, told Scout Warrior in an interview.”
