Not to be outdone by California’s taxpayers, Mayor Mike sends some more pocket change to Johns Hopkins to concoct more anti-gun agitprop masquerading as “public health” data: Former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg donates $300M to Johns Hopkins – “Self-made billionaire Michael Bloomberg once toyed with the idea of running for president. But now the former New York City mayor is dropping $300 million on a new public-health initiative at his alma mater, Johns Hopkins University, all with a view of impacting public policy.”

Moms Demand Action on state gun control initiative at Cal Anderson Park – “One of the leading anti-gun violence groups in the nation will be holding a rally at Cal Anderson Park September 24th in support of a statewide gun control initiative appearing on the ballot in November. Moms Demand Action will be supporting Initiative 1491 — a measure to create ‘extreme risk protection orders’ which would allow families and law enforcement officials to petition courts to temporarily suspend a person’s access to firearms if the they are deemed to be threat to themselves or others.” Maybe Washington 2A supporters should deem the Moms to be a threat to their gun rights and show up to present the other side on the 24th. Just a thought.

O.T. Genasis Cuts Plea Deal for LAX Gun Bust – “TMZ has learned … the rapper pled no contest to carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, which is a misdemeanor. He was originally charged with a felony, so it could have been much worse. O.T. was fined $1,000 and sentenced to 2 days in jail — but got credit for time served. He also got 3 years probation, and can’t own or possess guns during that time.” Would a non-celebrity have gotten the same deal?

Speaking of special treatment:

Messi brother gets community service for illegal gun possession – “Barcelona and Argentina ace Lionel Messi’s older brother Matias Messi has been ordered to teach football training sessions in his home city of Rosario after being found by police with a gun in his car. Judge Gonzalo Lopez Quintana instructed Matias Messi to conduct four hours of soccer coaching every week for a year at a football club in the Argentine city as part of a probation order.”

Nothing’s much more fun than faking a drive-by: Video: Apparent gun prank has police working on arrest – “An incident called “unbelievable” and “totally unacceptable” by police in Cincinnati has gone viral on social media. A Facebook video shows a young man, possibly a teenager, holding a weapon in the back seat of a car along Ross Avenue near Warsaw Avenue in Price Hill.”

Thanks for nothing: Weeks After Campus Carry Implementation, an Accidental Misfire at Tarleton State – “Less than two months after a Texas law allowing guns into public university buildings went into effect, an accidental discharge has been reported in a Tarleton State University dormitory. No one was hurt in the incident and a university spokesman said Friday there was ‘minimal property damage.'” Fortunately, no one’s Second Amendment rights can be cancelled due to someone else’s carelessness.

Student wounded when officer’s gun discharges – “Officers called to the school to investigate a report that a crime might have been committed were speaking with the girl when she became ‘uncooperative and then combative,’ according to the release. As the officers attempted to control the girl, one officer’s firearm discharged while still in its holster, and the girl was wounded, according to the release.” While in the holster? Why do we get the feeling there’s more to this story than what’s in the MPD press release?

Oh look! Another one of those defensive gun uses that never happensMan arrested after being shot by woman during home invasion, police say – “A man who was shot in the leg Wednesday evening after kicking in the door of a Regency apartment has been arrested, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said. A 19-year-old woman told police that she was alone in her apartment on Monument Road about 6 p.m. when her door was forced open. The woman grabbed her gun and fired at the intruder, hitting him once, investigators said.”
