This video caught my eye because of the caption above: “Dangerous . . . useless . . . ridiculous . . . but pure fun.” Joerg’s maniacal laugh certainly gives credence to his description of his crazy Clothespins Steel Dart Machine Gun. It also highlights one of the key strategic advantages enjoyed by gun rights advocates: guns are fun. They’re a hoot. They tap into our instinctive desire to . . . hunt? Blow sh*t up? Multiply our personal force by several orders of magnitude? Dunno . . .

But one thing I do know: guns put a smile on the faces of millions of people. What do the antis offer? An intellectual solution to perceived danger. We can and do argue with them on that level. But at the end of the day we can instruct newbies, fence straddlers and open-minded antis (i.e. unicorns) on the four safety rules, put a firearm in their hands and watch as funpowder lights-up their brain’s nucleus accumbens.

Yeah, it’s that good. And thank God for that.
