Initial news is coming in of police responding to reports shots fired at Highland High School in Palmdale, California, north of Los Angeles. No details are available yet. The school has about 4000 students. More as it becomes available.
UPDATE: Suspect in custody. KGO reports that “One person was detained Friday morning after reports of a possible shooting at Highland High School in Palmdale, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.” Still no reports of injuries. According to KGO,
Firefighter-paramedics were staging in response to the reports, but no one had been transported from the school as of 8 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
