Couple camping in California receives disturbing threat – “A local couple thought they had found just what they were looking for in Colfax, but soon after they unpacked here on Easter weekend, their storybook stay at the Bear River Campground felt more like the storyline in a horror film . . . They say a group of male campers with a rusted truck, BB guns and a chainsaw complimented their music and even invited them over for beer. Police draw guns on high school students playing ‘Senior Assassin’ – The high school students playing the “Senior Assassin” game were only armed with a water rifle but the cops who chased them down Sunday and pulled over what they thought was a truck fleeing a crime were carrying real guns – and they had them out and ready . . . ‘Officers conducted a felony stop which resulted in withdrawing their service weapons at a low ready position,’ Powers wrote. Officers quickly identified the students and realized they were probably playing ‘Senior Assassin,’ [School Resource Officer Phil] Powers said. A large water gun was found in the vehicle, he said.”
Wonder why The New York Times didn’t mention the fact that Mexican journalists are legally disarmed . . . In Mexico, ‘It’s Easy to Kill a Journalist’ – “March was the worst month on record for Mexico, ever, according to Article 19, a group that tracks crimes against journalists worldwide. At least seven journalists were shot across the country last month — outside their front doors, relaxing in a hammock, leaving a restaurant, out reporting a story. Three of them died, dispatched by armed men who vanished without a trace.” Here in the States, the Second protects the First. Someone should tell the Times, whose publisher has a New York City carry permit.
I’m sure it was their idea . . . Suspected guns-for-weed deals net Merritt College basketball player – “During an investigation spanning several months, which ended with the two men being arrested April 25 in Oakland, undercover officers with the Mendocino County Major Crimes Task Force seized four assault rifles, some pistols and extended ammunition clips, authorities said.” Clips. Heh.
