An Oakland woman on Friday pretended to have a seizure after someone approached her on a BART train and handed her a threatening note, attempting to rob her.
Julie Dragland said she boarded a train in Daly City and was heading home to Dublin when a person in dark clothing climbed onto the train in downtown San Francisco and thrust a note at her.
It read: “There are 2 guns pointed at you now. If you want to live hand back your wallet + phone NOW + do not turn around and be descreet. Do not turn around until after you have left Civic Center + you will live.”

Mexican location scout Carlos Muñoz Portal was shot to death in a violent region in central Mexico Monday while scouting for season four of Netflix’s hit show “Narcos.” The seasoned scout, who worked for Stacy Perskie’s Mexico City-based production company Redrum, has a slew of high profile credits to his name, including, “Sicario,” “Spectre,” “Fast & Furious” and “Apocalypto.”
Netflix issued the following statement: “We are aware of the passing of Carlos Muñoz Portal, a well-respected location scout, and send our condolences to his family. The facts surrounding his death are still unknown as authorities continue to investigate.

Our membership did not indicate in the survey an overwhelming YES to Universal Background Checks. It’s a topic we’ve debated internally for years, and as is the case with many of our positions and takes on things, the answer is much more complicated than a simple yes or no, as the devil is in the details on this kind of thing.

A picture on a church or school door of a gun in a red circle with an X over it is unsettling. It is not conducive to interior peace nor prayer, defeating the purpose of a church or a school. It is an open invitation for radicals to come in and start shooting.
The cardinal’s intentions are good, but he is living in a fantasyland to think that the “no guns” sign will keep out radicals with evil intentions.

The Trump administration has withdrawn a proposal to let Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s security guards buy $1.2 million in U.S.-made weapons, a congressional official said Monday, following violence against protesters during Erdogan’s visit to Washington this spring.
Earlier this year, the administration told Congress it planned to allow New Hampshire gunmaker Sig Sauer to sell the weapons, which include hundreds of semi-automatic handguns and ammunition. The notification triggered a period in which Congress could review the deal before final approval is granted. The weapons would have gone to an intermediary in Turkey for use by Erdogan’s presidential security forces.
