The state of Georgia has ordered a cease and desist order against a Woodstock school that took first and second-graders on a field trip to a gun shop that the owner of the facility called an “educational experience.”
Tammy Dorsten says she was just trying to give the first and second-grade students a history lesson when she took them to Hi-Caliber Firearms as part of an American History lesson. She says since the incident, her Facebook page has been flooded with criticism.
During a state investigation, the state said the academy was licensed as a private school for kindergarten through second grade. The investigation found the preschoolers were cared for in “an unlicensed space meant for a private school.”

The supervisory board of H&K AG, the parent company of the Heckler & Koch Group (“Heckler & Koch”), has revoked the appointment of Mr. Norbert Scheuch as Chairman of the Executive Board and as Chief Executive Officer of H&K AG with immediate effect. The appointment of Mr. Norbert Scheuch as executive director of Heckler & Koch GmbH was also revoked with immediate effect.
Until the appointment of a successor in the near future, Mr. Wolfgang Hesse, the sole executive board member of H&K AG and the sole executive director of Heckler & Koch GmbH, will take over Mr. Scheuch’s duties, in close cooperation with the supervisory board.
Washington State Sheriff Placed On Leave After Video Shows Him Holding Gun On Motorcyclist
A troubling videotape of a King County sheriff’s detective holding a gun on a motorcyclist has resulted in his being placed on administrative leave. Alex Randall, the motorcyclist, posted the videotape that shows him pulling up to a stop line at a red light. The detective then walks up and points the gun at him. The King County Sheriff has apologized to Randall but the department is still refusing to release the name of the detective.
After the detective walks up, Randall put his hands up and said “don’t shoot.” The deputy does not identify himself in approaching Randall but indicates that Randall was allegedly speeding and and driving recklessly. That still does not explain the gun.
Looters: reason No. 374 to own a firearm . . . Gun group, others react to report of suspect shot in head as Harvey struck
A gun owners group and others on social media reacted this week to news that a homeowner in Harvey-ravaged Corpus Christi, Texas, apparently took matters into his own hands against an alleged looter.
The suspect was coherent at the scene and was taken to Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline for treatment, police said, but his medical condition early Wednesday was unknown.
Soon after the incident was reported, lobbying group Gun Owners of America took to Twitter to share the story.

As Mexico’s security situation continues to deteriorate — along with public trust in law enforcement — some police officers in the country are trading in their guns for guitarrónes in an effort to help improve the image of the force.
A group of 21 federal police officers, who also just happen to be professional musicians, have formed a mariachi band in order to show the human side of law enforcement and break down widespread mistrust in the force — a chronic issue in a country plagued by the underreporting of crimes.
A win for Magpul . . . Air Force to Replace Army-Issue Magazines with PMAGs
The U.S. Air Force put out guidance in July that all government-issued M16/M4 magazines – including the Army’s new Enhanced Performance Magazine – will be replaced by the Magpul PMAG.
The announcement occurred in the “USAF AUTHORIZED SMALL ARMS and LIGHT WEAPONS (SA/LW) ACCESSORIES (as of 28 July 17).”

Alarming statistics have surfaced pertaining to police members without firearm competency certificates who have been let loose on the streets.
According to Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane’s response to a DA question in the Gauteng Legislature, 2 031 South African Police Service members without firearm compliance certificates are currently patrolling Gauteng’s streets.
Of the 2 031 active members without firearm compliance certificates, 627 are stationed in Tshwane. Ekurhuleni has 351, and Johannesburg has 196. The worst affected stations are Evaton with 45 and Sebokeng with 49 uncertified members. This means that these members are not supposed to be deployed outside the confines of the station as the risks and liability are enormous.

“One girl was going to buy a notebook. There was one left, some pushing resulted,” Baetens says. “They began to argue who was the rightful purchaser of that notebook.”
Both duos of women were not backing down, as police and witnesses described the two women pulling the younger woman’s hair. That mother got shoved out of the way as the three continued to fight. That mother then pulled out a gun.
“She’s a valid CPL holder,” Baetens says. “She pulled out her firearm and tells them to stop attacking her daughter while pointing the gun at them.”
The fight quickly ended as customers were seen running away and police were called.

Security forces continue to crack down on illegal weapons in the West Bank, carrying out a several raids overnight Tuesday, confiscating assault rifles and shutting down an arms factory.
The ongoing raids of weapons factories have greatly reduced the number of illegal weapons that could end up in the hands of attackers, and has driven up the price of a Carl Gustav-type submachine gun – the most popular weapon – from NIS 1,500 in January 2015 to NIS 4,500 in December 2016 and approximately NIS 7,000 in May 2017.
The IDF, Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and Border Police found M-16s rifles in Azun, near Kalkilya, and an illegal weapons factory and more M-16s in Abud, 22 km. northwest of Ramallah. More homemade weapons were found in Beit Fajar, south of Bethlehem, the army said.
