The official West Midlands statistics mean that the city has seen a firearms discharge more than once every three days.
The force is currently tackling a gangs war in the south of the city which has led to an increase in violence in areas including Northfield and Bartley Green.
We told last week how there were 57 shootings between April 1 and July 12 in the whole of the West Midlands.
The force has now confirmed 40 of those took place in Birmingham. The full break-down show month by month firearms discharges with 16 being the highest number in April – followed by 11 in June, 10 n July and four in May.

After passing laws that expand the definition of “assault weapon” and make it illegal to possess gun magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition, the state is facing myriad problems in trying to enforce the new laws. The first trouble came when the California Department of Justice (DOJ) attempted to draft their plan to register all of the rifles in California which have “bullet button” reloading devices and other rifles that would fall under the state’s expanded assault weapons ban. On June 26, the Office of Administrative Law (OAL) determined that the DOJ had improperly sought to avoid the public comment period on the plan. That caused the deadline for registration to be pushed back six months.
Then, on June 29, a federal judge issued a preliminary injunction blocking the enforcement of the state’s gun magazine confiscation plan.
But give them time . . . DOJ Releases Proposed Regulations Regarding Ammunition Vendor Licensing
On Friday, July 14th, the California Department of Justice, Bureau of Firearms (“DOJ”) claims to have released its anticipated proposed regulations for the issuance of ammunition vendor licenses to businesses who sell or transfer ammunition pursuant to Proposition 63. Under the Administrative Procedure Act, a government agency is required to provide notice to those who signed up for “notifications of future rulemaking activities.” But NRA and CRPA attorneys received no notice of the proposed regulations, despite being subscribed to receive emails regarding any and all rulemaking activity from DOJ.
As written, these proposed regulations include new requirements for the issuance of ammunition vendor licenses, restrictions on the display of ammunition in stores, fees for processing private party ammunition sales, and the procedures for the suspension and forfeiture of licenses.
Skynetski . . . Russian Weapons Maker To Build AI-Directed Guns
The maker of the famous AK-47 rifle is building “a range of products based on neural networks,” including a “fully automated combat module” that can identify and shoot at its targets. That’s what Kalashnikov spokeswoman Sofiya Ivanova told TASS, a Russian government information agency last week. It’s the latest illustration of how the U.S. and Russia differ as they develop artificial intelligence and robotics for warfare.

Everyone’s favourite edgelord from Overwatch, Reaper, has received a fan-made 3D print of his hellfire shotguns with the Nevermore skin.
Each of these prints measure in at 66 centimetres long, so they should be big enough for a properly scaled cosplay or decoration piece.
To get it to look like it does in the game, you’re going to need to put a lot of work into finishing and painting it, lest it look like the test prints in the gallery below. Luckily the shaping is spot on, so you need not worry about that.

Several new developments in North Korean armaments can be witnessed amongst the recent flow of propaganda released by Pyongyang after Kim Jong-un’s ascension to power. One such development is what appears to be a new magazine model for the North Korean copy of the AK-74, the Type 88. This new magazine uses a staggered helix design, which allows for a high number of 5.45 x 39 mm cartridges to be carried without the notable increases in size and unwieldiness that characterise many other high capacity magazines.
So far the only users of this helical magazine appear to be Kim Jong-un’s (and formerly Kim Jong-il’s) personal bodyguards. While in the picture above each bodyguard appears to be carrying only one magazine (which, given their high capacity, isn’t that surprising), other, earlier, footage shows a loadout of two spare magazines for each bodyguard, as seen below. The magazines appear to have been in service since 2010, and possibly earlier.

(Travis L.) Tingler refused to get into the squad car and police used stun guns to subdue him.
The unhinged man somehow grabbed a lighter during the scuffle and when the stun gun probe hit the lighter fluid, Tingler’s beard and chest hair caught fire, police said.
A cop tried to put the fire out but Tingler continued to struggle with the officers, punching one in the face, until he finally fell on the pavement and hit his head after being zapped by a stun gun again.
