A new Pew Research Center survey attempts to better understand the complex relationship Americans have with guns and how that relationship intersects with their policy views.

A man claimed to be fashioning himself as “Mad Max” when he put on a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, brass knuckles and knives to work on a quad in Barstow.
Authorities say they arrested 39-year-old Jack Lee Ernest of Barstow after seeing him working on his quad on Old Highway 58 in Barstow at 11 p.m. at night.
Deputy Kenneth Bubier conducted a traffic stop on the quad, whose rider — later identified as Ernest — behaved suspiciously and first tried to ride off, according to a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department statement.

SIG picks up another LEO contract . . . North Dakota Highway Patrol Adopts SIG SAUER P320

This AUGurs well for the Yellowhammer State . . . Steyr Arms to add manufacturing at Alabama operation in $2.9M expansion
Steyr Arms announced today it will invest $2.9 million to add a manufacturing component to its Alabama facility, a key assembly and distribution hub for the firearms maker. The project will create up to 10 jobs, according to the Birmingham Business Alliance.
The company’s Jefferson County location is its only U.S. subsidiary that imports, distributes and assembles Steyr firearms, as well as some firearms from Merkel. Steyr plans to relocate the manufacturing of its products for U.S. sales from Austria to the Bessemer facility.

A U.S. senator on Wednesday proposed legislation that would shield the Second Amendment rights of Americans from executive overreach, according to a report at Guns.com.
U.S. Sen. Luther Strange, R-Ala., introduced the “Protecting the Second Amendment Act,” targeting unnecessary intrusions of freedom like those made by executive actions during the Obama administration.

From a development perspective, adding guns to your game has a dual benefit. Wolfenstein and Doom helped define the role of guns in video games, and those games came out of a country that defined itself through guns. “Guns are satisfying to use, and they exist in the real world,” says McDonnell. “You have easy replicable models for design, there are a lot of variants in them and the designs. If you want to make a good shooter, you already have ten designs right there, but if you want to make an action game, you have to figure out the classes, or you have to figure out different weapons. It’s more complicated.”
