Lt. Gen. Robert Milstead Jr., the deputy commandant for manpower and reserve affairs, told the Senate Armed Services Committee that the USMC couldn’t deploy women in that role even if they wanted to (which I’m thinking they don’t). “We do not have that authority. That authority rests with Congress.” I know! How about an Executive Order? That ought to make the President popular with his base. Just sayin’.
