Palmetto Armory announced a couple of very compelling additions to their pistol lineup at SHOT Show. The first is the new Dagger Micro, a micro-compact version of their 9mm striker-fired pistol.
Palmetto State will offer the new 15+1 Dagger Micro in two configurations, one with standard iron sights and one with an optics cut and threaded barrel.
Note that the model shown at SHOT is a pre-production version. The final pistol will have a more aggressive grip texture.
Palmetto State will also be jumping into the 5.7x28mm pistol market, going up against models from FN and Ruger. Like the Dagger micro, the new Rock 57 will come in two models, one with standard irons and one with a slide cut and threaded barrel.
Again, the model shown at SHOT was a pre-production pistol. The final model will have more grippy grips and the name really will be Rock 57, not ‘5.7 Rock’ as it appears above.
The 23+1 Rock 57 — at least the model show at SHOT — has a remarkably good trigger. It’s exceptionally light and clean-breaking, particularly for a striker-fired trigger.
The Rock 57 also has a slightly less beefy grip than its competitors. Due to the length of the 5.7×28 cartridge, the grip on 5.7 pistols is larger than standard nines or .45s. Some of us with small hands have a tough time reaching the trigger.
PSA, however, has found a way to make the Rock 57’s grip slightly less girthy. It’s noticeably easier to grip and get to the trigger than either the FN or Ruger pistols. Again, this is a pre-production grip module, so here’s hoping that’s still the case on the final version.
The base model Rock 57 will be priced at $499. The feature-packed version with the optics cut and threaded barrel will run $599. Expect it to be available in Mark or early in the second quarter.
