Only they have the hundreds of hours of training and skills required to handle guns. The average citizen simply doesn’t possess the ability and can’t be trusted to safely use– Oh. Wait . . .

To be fair, most officers we know wouldn’t be the ones to suggest leaving guns solely to the soldiers and cops. No, it takes big city (mostly northeastern) chiefs of police to generate truly deep thoughts like that. They tend to march right along with our betters, the elitists in the illustrious gun grabber community, who have such low opinions of the abilities of John and Jane Q. Public to handle the tools necessary to protect themselves.
And that’s why we feel more than a touch of guilty schandenfreude when one of the boys in blue demonstrates how wrongheaded that only-military-and-cops thinking is.
