A Littlefield, Texas woman was getting ready to drive off her property with her kids when an armed carjacker began assaulting both her and her boyfriend, shouting that their car was his. The attacker was Ruben Garcia Lopez, age 25 (pictured above), and the car was, in fact, not his.

Terrified, the woman started trying to get her kids out of the car and away from the situation while Lopez continued to attack her. Then, just in the nick of time:

“A neighbor arrived at his home, saw the attack in progress, and armed himself with his handgun. He has a concealed handgun permit,” said police. “He came to the aid of the victims and pointed his weapon at the attacker.”

Lopez hurled some insults at the neighbor, but moved away from the car and across the street. When police arrived, Lopez was still there ready to resist being arrested (he attacked a police officer).

Fortunately, no one suffered serious harm during this incident. The assailant is now being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, assault causing bodily harm, terroristic threat and resisting arrest. Another crime prevented courtesy of a good guy with a gun.
