You gotta give Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence Chief Paul Helmke credit. The gun grabbers’ guru has seen the writing on the wall (i.e. the Supreme Court McDonald decision affirming the supremacy of the Second Amendment). He’s moved quickly to reposition the gun control “brand.” He’s replaced strident rhetoric with John Lennon-like low-key liturgy (“all we are saying is give up your 50 cals”). In the run-up to the White House gun summit, the Brady Bunch are slowly releasing a series of post-Tucson Q&A clips where Helmke tries to come off as Mr. Nicely Nicely. Only one problem . . .
Helmke has a huge heart-on for gun control.
“In Switzerland you have to account for the number of bullets you have at the end of the month. If the NRA is going to agree to that . . . I’m all in.”
Even when you wrap yourself in red, white and blue, your true stripes are hard to hide.
