A Tale of Two T-Shirts: Debra Messing’s “Gun Violence” Vs. Tipton’s My “Gun Life”

I decided to show my support for gun rights by sharing a picture of myself in a pro-gun shirt. Here’s Will & Grace star Debra Messing and your humble scribe side by side. And here’s the back story .  . .

As the murder/suicide unfolded at UCLA, actress Debra Messing took to Twitter to show off her anti-gun violence shirt. But we all know it was an anti-gun shirt. She doesn’t care about gun violence. If she did, she would also have Tweeted about the 69 people shot in Chicago last weekend.

Messing’s shirt was emblazoned with Under the Gun from Katie Couric’s now infamous gun control documentary. Couric recently apologized for “misleading” viewers with edits in the film designed to make pro-2nd Amendment advocates appear foolish. Nonetheless, anti-gunners still protect the laws that don’t protect them. Like Messing, they continue to miss the obvious and greatly alter statistics to fit their “gun are bad” narrative.

Obviously, Messing failed to mention in her anti-gun Tweet that UCLA is a “gun-free” zone, and it’s in California, where there are already stringent restrictions on every aspect of being a gun owner. California has all the legislation currently that all anti-gunners claim they want, and it made no difference. I could explain further, but it isn’t like I will change the minds of anyone that won’t even take the time to realize how ridiculous they are when demanding more gun laws.

Messing eventually kind of apologized for the timing of her Tweet, while still begging for more gun control.

Bottom line: actresses like Messing fear what they don’t understand. Rather than alleviate that fear and learn something new, they try to impress that cowardly demeanor onto the rest of us. And I have a problem with that. My freedom trumps anyone else’s fear.
