Joe Kump, a police chief from Georgia, sends his everyday off-duty carry lineup entitled “Chief” courtesy of the fine folks at Everyday Carry.
How does his stuff stack up compared to others?
Well, let’s have a closer look.
First up, in writing these EDCs for the last couple of months, I haven’t seen a Rosary before. Thankfully, in addition to it, he carries something a little more potent for those times when prayer fails. Specifically a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm Shield. Nice. He packs it in a paddle holster, specifically the Safariland 7371 7TS ALS Slim, Concealment Holster w/Micro-Paddle. Apparently he doesn’t find his paddle holster uncomfortable. I never cared for them because too often, for me at least, they tend to pinch, poke or stick me when I bend over at the waist to pick stuff up off the ground (like spent magazines).
Like a good Boy Scout he carries a reload, but unlike a good Scout, he doesn’t carry a flashlight. Maybe bad guys don’t do bad things in the dark in his bucolic town?
Like a lot of cops, he carries two wallets… one for the usual stuff and one for the badge and credentials.
For his blade, he carries a Gerber EVO.
Does anyone have any thoughts on paddle holsters? Some folks must like them because people keep buying them.
