OK Gov. Signs Open Carry Law. Only . . .

“Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin signed into law on Tuesday a bill that will allow Oklahomans to openly carry guns,” Reuters reports, “if they pass a criminal background check and take firearms training.” Training? Given recent IGOTD awards bestowed upon Oklahoma cops, that’s almost funny. For another non-laugh, check this from their state constitution: “The right of a citizen to keep and bear arms in defense of his home, person, or property, or in aid of the civil power, when thereunto legally summoned, shall never be prohibited; but nothing herein contained shall prevent the Legislature from regulating the carrying of weapons.” So law abiding Sooners can keep and bear arms but pols can pass any law they like to stop—sorry “regulate” the bearing bit. Which they’ve just done. Baby steps or betrayal?
