The founder of Oath Keepers organization, a Yale-educated attorney and US Army veteran, Stewart Rhodes was arrested today on federal charges of “seditious conspiracy” related to the January 6th, 2020 protests at the US Capitol.

US Attorney General Merrick Garland has faced withering criticism for calling the January 6th riot an “insurrection” while failing to charge anyone with treason or sedition. Never mind the fact that the those who allegedly plotted the violent overthrow of the government left their guns at home that day.

Now Garland has offered up Rhodes and ten others as sacrificial lambs to the leftists who tirelessly promote their narrative that the January 6th protest and riot were some sort of unarmed effort to overthrow American system of government.

Larry Correia has the best summation of the fake-news narrative from January 6th . . .

Jan 6th is the biggest threat do democracy EVAR. When the most heavily armed demographic in the world didn’t bring any guns to a coup, and the only person who got shot was an unarmed woman, and she was killed by the kind of super cop who leaves his Glock in the toilet.

The AP has a slanted report on the arrest of Rhodes and the others . . .

These are the first charges of seditious conspiracy that the Justice Department has brought in connection with the attack led by supporters of former President Donald Trump.

Rhodes, 56, of Granbury, Texas, and Edward Vallejo, 63, of Phoenix, Arizona, were arrested on Thursday. The others who were charged were already facing criminal charges related to the attack. Rhodes is the highest-ranking member of an extremist group to be arrested in the deadly siege.

The arrest of Rhodes and the others is a serious escalation of the accusations against the thousands of rioters who stormed the Capitol. And the charges answer in part a growing chorus of Republicans who have publicly questioned the seriousness of the Jan. 6 insurrection, arguing that since no one had been charged yet with sedition or treason, it could not have been so violent.

Rhodes did not enter the Capitol building on Jan. 6 but is accused of helping put into motion the violence that disrupted the certification of the vote. The Oath Keepers case is the largest conspiracy case federal authorities have brought so far over Jan. 6, when rioters stormed past police barriers and smashed windows, injuring dozens of officers and sending lawmakers running.

The indictment against Rhodes alleges Oath Keepers formed two teams, or “stacks,” that entered the Capitol. The first “stack” split up inside the building to separately go after the House and Senate. The second “stack” confronted officers inside the Capitol Rotunda, the indictment said. Outside Washington, the indictment alleges, the Oath Keepers had stationed two “quick reaction forces” that had guns “in support of their plot to stop the lawful transfer of power.”

Jonathan Moseley, an attorney representing Rhodes, said his client was arrested Thursday in Texas.

“He has been subject to a lot of suspicion to why he wasn’t indicted,” so far in the Jan. 6 riot, Moseley said. “I don’t know if this is in response to those discussions, but we do think it’s unfortunate. It’s an unusual situation.”

Moseley said Rhodes was supposed to testify before the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection in a deposition but it got called off. He was talking to Rhodes on the phone about the committee when Rhodes was contacted by the FBI.

Rhodes has said in interviews with right-wing hosts that there was no plan to storm the Capitol and that the members who did so went rogue. But he has continued to push the lie that the 2020 election was stolen, while posts on the Oath Keepers website have depicted the group as a victim of political persecution.

An arrest is not a conviction. Not by a long shot. Particularly where partisan prosecutions come into play.

      • yeah, I usually set up a gallows, chant “hang mike pence”, have a skirmish with capitol officers, smash in a window, rout congress and get morons like Babbit killed when I’m planning my sightseeing tours.

        • Were the guys mentioned in this article the ones that set up the gallows? Did they chant, “hang Mike Pence?” That’s a serious question, by the way. I haven’t heard who that was specifically. Have you?

      • You wouldn’t know, since you were securely barricaded in the ‘natural kill box’ over 3000 miles away while the real patriots tried their best to secure victory (and failed laughably, but that’s besides the point). All this despite your clear statements that you’d be there. What a contemptible coward you are. 🖕🤡

        • You make me feel like a celebrity, Hail. I’m the only one on TTAG that has a long term stalker who keeps a detailed dossier containing obscure things I’ve said over the past two years. Things every other normal person forgets. It’s all a little weird and sad, but fascinating nonetheless.

Do you have a shrine in the corner of your mom’s basement with candles surrounding a photo of my winsome round yellow face? Hopefully you haven’t splashed the pic with goat blood…

        • I Haz a Question,

Do you have a shrine in the corner of your mom’s basement with candles surrounding a photo of my winsome round yellow face?

That there was FUNNY sir! It’s a darn good thing I didn’t have a mouth full of beverage when I read your response. You win the Intertubez for best comment of the day!

F.Y.I. I am still laughing out loud as I finish typing this comment!

        • Haz, I know I’m on the grinning idiot’s list for “Special Treatment”. Along with most others on here. His files would made the Stasi archives look half-done.

    • “they tried to overthrow the government with force”

(laugh) if they ever do that, you’re gonna know.

        • if they’d intended it, they would have succeeded.

I wonder if you understand that. I’m doubting you do.

        • jsled, you should leave this site now. First, you’re so obviously wrong, well never mind. You’ll only get beat up with facts. Badly. You won’t enjoy it and there will be nothing you can do about it. I’m sure you can find a happy place somewhere where fiction passes for fact.

        • We live in the most heavily armed society in human history. 74 million people voted for Trump. If only one percent of them, 740,000 truly desired to do some damage they could. The U.S. military was defeated in Afghanistan by about 60,000 mostly illiterate goat herders (battle-hardened yes, by goat herders nonetheless).

Your precious “muh Democracy™” faces little threat from conservatives. These people have jobs. They have families. They’re rooted and they have too much to lose. Which is more than be said the hordes of left-wing communist thugs which set American cities ablaze all throughout the summer of 2020.

    • The giddy drama queen jsled…is very upset over January 6 so he/she/it must be fit to be tied over all those police stations and cities burning across Amercia way prior to Jan. 6.

  1. The process will be the conviction, as the saying goes.

Excellent timing, Herr Garland. To wait a full year with no charges or arrests, and spring this upon the obvious criminals now when they least expect it.

    • I Haz a Question,

You beat me to the punch: I came here as well to say, “The process IS THE PUNISHMENT.”

      • (facepalm)

Yes, I was wondering why my wording didn’t look right. It’s supposed to be “The process is the punishment”.

(stumbles back to the kitchen to get even more coffee…)

    • “To wait a full year with no charges or arrests, and spring this upon the obvious criminals“

This is how a thorough and professional investigation is conducted.

And the fact is, the oaf creepers are just small fry in the conspiracy, they flip like pancakes to avoid hard time in the federal pen.

And the icing on the cake is the exposure of the election fraud perpetrated by the forged ‘elector certificates’ submitted to the national archives and Congress by Republican election fraudsters in at least 5 states.

  2. “US Attorney General Merrick Garland has faced withering criticism for calling the January 6th riot an “insurrection” while failing to charge anyone with treason or sedition”

the law hasn’t yet been updated to match the political subversion.

    • “while failing to charge anyone with treason or sedition”

Goal post moving again? The criticism was that no one was charged with insurrection.

      18 U.S. Code § 2383 – Rebellion or insurrection

He still hasn’t charged anyone with insurrection, has he? But…it was totally an insurrection, right?

The comment wasn’t really directed toward you, but to anyone calling this an insurrection.

      • Notice too that while garland is.rounding up conservatives and political opponents (PLA ish) no one is even mentioning the leftists that assaulted the white house. Even painting graffiti on it’s walls, with sitting president Trump having to shelter in it’s basement, and leftist DC mayor ordering her police to not respond. Just crickets on that. Under the democrat Marxists and CNN we’ve descended to banana republic status. What’s next, juntas ruling us from barracks?

        • “leftists that assaulted the white house. Even painting graffiti on it’s walls, with sitting president Trump having to shelter in it’s basement“

That is just hilarious, watch out, those violent leftists are painting graffiti on the walls, “I’ve got my panties all in all in a wad, I must hide in the basement bunker!”

And you believe that’s equivalent to the conservative Republicans attacking the United States Capitol during a joint session of Congress deliberating our presidential election under the mandate of the United States Constitution?

        • Yup. A coup attempt is a coup attempt. Course when leftists do it it’s a protest. We’re sick of the left changing the meaning of words to further their agenda. But the left will and already is paying for their changing of truth for lies, darkness for light, immorality for morality and good for bad. The left wants to get rid of our borders, then declares that to be “patriotism”. The further you embrace darkness, the more you stare into the abyss. The more you do that, the more the abyss stares at you. Yup, you lefties go ahead and set up your socialist utopia on earth, and then end up forfeiting the one in heaven.

  3. The only mistake made by protesters that day was all of them not being armed with rifles and a failure to follow through.

  4. Don’t blame Garland for the delay of justice, he’s still waiting on a call chairman Kim as to his next move!

  5. one day the power will be restored to the people and that tree will be refreshed with the blood of those tyrants.

  6. Can I volunteer for the jury?
The odds of finding a patriot with a DC home address is probably pretty damn slim.
I guess the best I can do for now is to open up my checkbook.
Please keep us informed of donation options.

Just imagine how many BLM/ANTIFA types would be in jail if this sedition criteria was applied to the Left.
The un-equal application of law has reached Soviet levels.

    • > Just imagine how many BLM/ANTIFA types would be in jail if this sedition criteria was applied to the Left.

Really not sure what this means.

I can’t remember when “the left” tried to overthrow the federal government by force, attempting to interrupt the peaceful, lawful transfer of power, a hallmark of a functioning democracy.

      When was that, again?

      • “I can’t remember when “the left” tried to overthrow the federal government by force”

how ’bout by fraud? nothin’ peaceful or lawful ’bout that.

        • jsled,

Do YOU think that a bunch of unarmed protesters without any unit cohesion, without command-and-control structure, without stated goals/vision, and without any plans after “winning” had the possibility of dissolving the Federal government?

You truly raise the term moron to unprecedented levels.

        • “without any unit cohesion, without command-and-control structure, without stated goals/vision, and without any plans after “winning”

Wrong on every single count as Chief of Staff Mark Meadows’ revelation of the PowerPoint coup plans prepared by Eastman reveal.

Declare a “national emergency to cancel the election” even after the United States Attorney General and Director of homeland security had both investigated and found the election secure?

That my friend, is the very definition of sedition.

        • Miner49er,

You allege that a Trump cabinet member had a PowerPoint slide which mentioned cancelling the November 3rd general election. That has no relationship to a bunch of unorganized protesters on January 6th and is not evidence of the protesters’ alleged seditious intentions.

Is your mind really that scrambled or are you just grasping at straws and hurling anything at the proverbial wall–hoping that something sticks?

        • “mentioned cancelling the November 3rd general election“

Wrong, there was no mention of canceling the election, the memo was discussing the options post election after Trump lost.

Are you too dense to understand the mob was just one weapon, just one effort to disrupt the certification process?

Just like the election fraud perpetrated by the forges elector certificates, this plot contains many facets, some designed to work together others as standalone efforts to disrupt the certification process and throw the election back into the state legislatures.

Patience, grasshopper, as the investigators and prosecutors unwind the seditious conspiracy we’ll learn more about the interlocking parts of the plot to overthrow the American democracy.

        • “…as the investigators and prosecutors unwind the seditious conspiracy we’ll learn more about the interlocking parts of the plot to overthrow the American democracy.”

It’s like you guys learned nothing from the Russia Hoax. The walls are closing in (on the traitors)! Remember that one?

      • jsled is such a sensitive little weenie…he obviously knows nothing about the democRat Party mobs pushing people around and knows nothing about b.h. obama’s very long time marxist mentor sicko bill ayers and the weather underground or how democRats gave such terrorists a full get out of jail pass.

jsled’s beloved democRat Party is pure…never mind their legacy of slavery, segregation, Jim Crow , the KKK, lynching, Eugenics, Gun Control and other race based atrocities. In other words…jsled is a full of sht history illiterate.

        • I truly wish you would stop with the same word vomit in every post. “Durr durr Jim Crow gun control, muh racisms, slavery. . reeeee”. At least try to be coherent and post on the topic. You’re posts are almost as ignorant as some of the commies that post on here.

        • Please add to the list about democrats trying to break into the white house, with Trump in the basement. That was a coup attempt if I ever saw it. And remember CNN laughing that night at Trump for “hiding”. No indictments forthcoming there. That’s because you round up your opponents not your own guys.

      • The summer of 2020 was a *really* good attempt. Or is that embarrassing to a particular political party?

  7. wOrSe ThAN nInE eLeVeN!!!!!!!

The glowies are going to be poking, prodding and instigating like nobodys business up to the midterms trying to get some good ol’ boy with an IQ of 85 to act out and if they can’t find one they’ll send one of their own to the game.

Covid paranoia is dying, the messaging is waffling all over the place, the uniter is up there calling half the country terrorists, your paycheck buy less than ever. Pretty much the only thing that can save the Dems at this point is wholesale theft or going to war with half the country.

I doubt there is a single Dem in the power structure that doesn’t pray to Moloch nightly for some nut or fed agent to pop dementia Joe so they can crank the power grab to 11.

  8. “I doubt there is a single Dem in the power structure that doesn’t pray to Moloch nightly”

    … they might ….

    • Not interested in hearing his side of the story? How about a trial? I’ve discovered another atheist with faith, complete faith in the DOJ and the press.

      • Yep. “Watch your doors” doesn’t realize that when dems make up BS about himself, many will be saying “Hope he rots in jail”. The show will then be on the other foot won’t it? hell look how they did Trump…if they did him , just imagine what they want to do to us…….

        • Just like Lenin and Stalin laughed at their financiers, enablers and “useful idiots” just before the great purges and gulags.

      • “Not interested in hearing his side of the story?“

Oh no, I think we all want to sit these individuals on the witness stand, under oath, and question them about “their side of the story”.

Unfortunately, most of them lack the courage of their convictions and are refusing to answer the congressional subpoenas to come and give “their side of the story”.

Never fear, they foolishly believe that their encrypted communications regarding their conspiracy to stop the certification of the election will never be brought forth into the light of day.

Rest assured, the NRO has the data and the federal prosecutors are moving forward with their criminal investigations.

Of course, looking through Roger Stone’s texts might be a little shocking, he may be still looking for some large black men to service his wife while he sits in the corner and watches as he did several years ago.
Maybe him and Jerry Falwell Jr can get a group discount…

  9. Political persecution – shades of the Soviet Union. Are gulags next?
It sickens me to think that our government will do what ever they can to destroy these individuals on the whim and say so of the political apparatchik. Even if a jury acquits them of any major crimes, the money needed to defend themselves will be far beyond what the average person has available to them.

  10. I said it was a bad idea. I’ve no clue as to what they thought they were going to accomplish other then get themselves in trouble.
Just because BLM/Antifa can burn down cities doesn’t mean you can storm the Capitol.

  11. Your crimes are those we say you have committed. We will fabricate charges, fabricate evidence, and hold you in chains until you can prove your innocence. We have an endless stream of dollars and a factory that churns out lawyers faster than rabbits breed. We will drive you and your family to poverty, we will threaten and extort behind the scenes to have things go our way. There is no line we will not cross. There is no crime we will not commit. We are your government; you exist for us to feed upon.

We are the left. We are in power. We are coming for you.

    • Over 100 million Christians have been martyred in the last 2000 years. 50 million before 1900 (plus the Armenians), and 50 million since by communists and socialists (including Ukrainians in the holomodor and christian Russians). A common thread is we were unarmed. To all leftists: We have learned from history. If you leftists want power, you’ll only be ruling and tromping over yourselves. We will not be ruled by Marxists. We know what they eventually do. They are even using the same Alinsky handbook. Stalin would be proud of you leftists. The second protects the first. And just try and arrest Trump, that’s what they’re really trying for. We’ve got his back.

  12. He’s being charged with the crimes that the FBI undercover agent did. We’re Deplorables but the dems are Dispicable Democrats.
    Might be nearing SHTF?

  13. “Rhodes did not enter the Capitol building on Jan. 6”

Wait a second. Here we have another prominent guy who was urging others to enter the Capitol, while he stayed outside? Hmm…

“Outside Washington, the indictment alleges, the Oath Keepers had stationed two “quick reaction forces” that had guns”

Brilliant plan, obviously. Wow, we were this close (you can’t see it, but I’m holding my thumb and forefinger really close together) to having this military mastermind take over the country. Now remind me again why they didn’t bring the guns.

  14. Its easy to debunk the manure that the Trump Nazi Storm Troopers were not armed.

So far, with the investigation still ongoing, three individuals have been charged for allegedly bringing a gun onto Capitol grounds on January 6. At least two other individuals have also been charged with gun crimes in relation to the events of that day, though they are not accused of carrying on Capitol grounds.

According to police testimony, Christopher Alberts was arrested leaving the Capitol grounds on January 6 while trying to flee from officers after they suspected he was carrying a firearm on his hip. Alberts was carrying a loaded pistol and 25 rounds of ammunition, according to court documents.

Guy Reffitt has been charged with illegally bringing a handgun on Capitol grounds on January 6. Reffitt allegedly told family members he “brought his gun with him” in the Capitol attack.

Mark Ibrahim, who at the time was an off-duty special agent for the Drug Enforcement Administration, has been charged with bringing his service weapon on Capitol grounds during the insurrection as well as lying to the FBI about why he was at the Capitol.

Another individual, Cleveland Meredith Jr., is accused of possessing a pistol and rifle without “a registration for any firearm in Washington, DC,” which were recovered by the FBI a day after the insurrection. According to an officer statement, the individual arrived too late for the Capitol riot and talked about killing Pelosi in a text conversation.

Yet another person, Lonnie Coffman, is accused of parking a truck filled with 11 homemade bombs, a handgun and an assault rifle two blocks away from the Capitol for several hours on January 6. Most of these defendants have pleaded not guilty or say they’ll fight the charges.
Federal prosecutors have also said members of the Oath Keepers, a paramilitary group, likely stored weapons at a hotel in Arlington, Virginia, as part of their plan to have an armed rapid-response force during the January 6 insurrection.

And I might add that the mad bomber has still not been caught that planted a bomb at the Capitol.

    • “… likely stored weapons at a hotel in Arlington, Virginia…” Translated, that means “We, the Eff Bee Eye, really, really REALLY wanted there to be weapons, but we haven’t found them, nor did we actually see any, but we really, really REALLY want YOU to think there really were weapons.”

    • “Federal prosecutors have also said members of the Oath Keepers, a paramilitary group, likely stored weapons at a hotel in Arlington, Virginia, as part of their plan“

The same tactic used in Las Vegas by Steven paddock to shoot over 400 people, interesting connection.

Perhaps the Vegas massacre was an oath keepers false flag operation.

    • Obviously not thinking this through. “A loaded pistol and 25 rounds of ammunition” to take on the Pelosi Police Force? That’s so ludicrous it’s insulting to intelligence.
Wow, 3 guns and supposedly 11 pipe bombs (most likely assembled by the IED Class at Quantico). Yeah boy, that’s an Armed Insurrection all right.
I’ve been an Oathkeeper member for over 15 years. I received no communication from Rhoades or any other Exec members to kit up and show up to the January 6th Protest.
As they drag this out, it looks more like a False Flag Event perpetrated by members of the FBI, CIA, DHS, and NSA than a Protest gone wrong.

    • 3 people? Well, goddamn, that’s *certainly* a coup! That’ll topple the entire country! You convinced me! Three people with guns can conquer THE ENTIRE WORLD.

  15. The United States of America, 1787 – 1861. R.I.P. The current federal entity is NOT the “United States of America”, which our Founders created. Our Founders gave us a sovereign nation composed of sovereign states. After the War Between The States the “Radical Republicans” replaced it with a single national empire, to which we owe neither allegiance or support.

    • Why not stop bitching and leave, because you’re not going to do anything about it. Well except LARP with the other wannabes. What a bitch made coward you are…

    • Why not stop bitching and leave, because you’re not going to do anything about it. Well except LARP with the other wannabes. What a bitch made coward you are…

    • “After the War Between The States the “Radical Republicans” replaced it with a single national empire, to which we owe neither allegiance or support”

Perhaps you are right, by your reasoning the Republican political organization is a corrupt terrorist org whose members should be summarily executed as traitors to the original United States of America.

  16. Here we go. Another Kyle rittehouse trial like District Attorney, government lawyers. And just like in the kyle Rittenhouse trial. Not all of the US capitol seciruty camera fottage has been releast.

The Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi who is responsible for the security of the Capitol building refuses to release the hours and hours of security camera footage. Will the defense be allowed to have access to all these hours of video, in its raw form?
In a timely manner to the defense.

Or will it be selectively edited?

    • “refuses to release the hours and hours of security camera footage“

Perhaps you are unfamiliar with the manner in which Federal LE investigates serious crimes.

Very little evidence is released until the investigation is complete, this preserves sources and methods of intelligence gathering.

And there are a lot of sources providing evidence in this investigation, many of them are the family and neighbors of the seditionists.

      • Here you go again. You are avoiding the issue. There are several hours of video from government security cameras. I guess you don’t want any police badge cam footage released when the cops beat suspects in NYC or NJ, or Los Angeles. You like it when the government cops hide evidence. You are an outstanding example of a freedom hating communist.

Private video from the event has been taken down by the Tech companies. They are facists like you. You’re a great gestapo agent.

  17. theyre trying to get us to insurrect
    thats what they want
so they can invoke the insurrection act and run the table
    our job:
    not take the bait
    its a trap
we have to fight this at the state level
    30 republican legislatures and climbing
    – 38 or bust –
and if dc nationalizes state elections to head that off
thats when 30 states start the process of seceding
and the military units there start fighting each other as they begin to break with the national command authority…

  18. Can’t wait to hear all about how the primary planner of the seditious action was an FBI informant…Seriously, you can’t argue on one hand that the people shouldn’t have small arms because they could never overthrow a government armed with tanks and nukes, and on the other hand argue that same government nearly fell to a few hundred unarmed idiots. Further, how do you explain why groups like the Oath Keepers, if they did in fact plan to overthrow congress, didn’t actually end up bringing firearms to finish the job and hold the building? What happened on January 6 was wrong, but people need to stop acting like it was either a tragically failed coup everyone should have supported as true patriots or the darkest day in American history that nearly toppled our system of government.

  19. “Can’t wait to hear all about how the primary planner of the seditious action was an FBI informant… “

Sorry to disappoint you, it turns out the co-conspirators were in the oval office of the White House.

The conspiracy was planned at the highest levels, and the evidence is already in the hands of the federal prosecutors who continue to move forward with serious charges.

“Capitol attack panel obtains PowerPoint that set out plan for Trump to stage coup
Presentation turned over by Mark Meadows made several recommendations for Trump to pursue to retain presidency
    Hugo Lowell in Washington
    Fri 10 Dec 2021 21.01 EST
    1 month old
Former Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows turned over to the House select committee investigating the 6 January Capitol attack a PowerPoint recommending Donald Trump to declare a national security emergency in order to return himself to the presidency.
Capitol attack committee issues new subpoenas to two ex-Trump aides
The fact that Meadows was in possession of a PowerPoint the day before the Capitol attack that detailed ways to stage a coup suggests he was at least aware of efforts by Trump and his allies to stop Joe Biden’s certification from taking place on 6 January.
The PowerPoint, titled “Election Fraud, Foreign Interference & Options for 6 Jan”, made several recommendations for Trump to pursue in order to retain the presidency for a second term on the basis of lies and debunked conspiracies about widespread election fraud.
Meadows turned over a version of the PowerPoint presentation that he received in an email and spanned 38 pages, according to a source familiar with the matter.
The Guardian reviewed a second, 36-page version of the PowerPoint marked for dissemination with 5 January metadata, which had some differences with what the select committee received. But the title of the PowerPoint and its recommendations remained the same, the source said.“

    • You know what’s fun about your theory? How easy it will be for history to prove it wrong. I don’t understand how anyone can think what happened 6 Jan 21 was a seditious plot by any legal standard. Sure plenty of people blustered about “fighting the good fight” and stocking up on weapons for the “civil war.” And yeah, lots of crimes were committed during the riot that disrupted a government process, causing chaos and the evacuation of government leaders. But how can anyone think it came close to overthrowing the federal government? Don’t you think a true plot of sedition, by people who own hundreds of small arms, would have made it further than a few hours of occupying a federal building? You’re telling me powerful people like millionairs and former presidents couldn’t come up with a better plan? Hell, some random people assassinated the president of Haiti with a few bungling mercenaries just last year. 49er, your conspiracies are just as bad as the asinine Qanon crap.

      • “causing chaos and the evacuation of government leaders.”

The Capitol wasn’t evacuated because of the supposed threat from Trump supporters walking around in the building.

“So the assault on the Capitol is not what caused the evacuations of those buildings? The discovery of those pipe bombs is what caused the evacuations of those?” asked Republican Oklahoma Sen. James Lankford.

        “That is correct,” said Sund.

        • Are the really splitting hairs about what caused the evacuation? Or do you believe the pipe bombs were unrelated to the people wandering the capital building? Not like everyone there was in on, or supported the deployment of, the pipe bombs, but seriously. Why does everyone split hairs on both sides of the aisle for this incident?

        • It’s important to note why they were evacuated. Most people think it was due to the threat from the trespassers because that’s the narrative.

        • Oh yeah, the violent attackers attempting to break down the doors to the house chambers had nothing to do with the evacuation…

Even the nut job Republican congressmen were scared shitless, running in fear from the violent insurrectionists.

      • “a PowerPoint recommending Donald Trump to declare a national security emergency in order to return himself to the presidency“

The very definition of a seditious conspiracy.

Conspiracy is a crime even if it’s not successful.

      • There’s been what, a total of 3 people charged for illegally having a gun on Capitol Grounds, OH and one had 25 rounds of Ammo on him. Sounds like EDC carry to me. One’s gun was locked in his vehicle.
Supposedly 11 pipe bombs (of which I’ve seen zero evidence of). The two pipe bombs outside of both the DNC and RNC buildings (looking very much like they were assembled by the IED Class at Langley).

There’s more evidence that this was a False Flag Event than there is evidence of an Insurrection. An event planned and fully supported by Pelosi, And various Alphabet Agency Heads.

        • “Supposedly 11 pipe bombs (of which I’ve seen zero evidence of)“

In actuality those were 11 homemade Molotov cocktails in quart Mason jars, hidden in a cooler in Alabama Billy Bob’s pick up truck.
He also had long gun and pistol, as well as contact info for Fox, OANN, Newsmax, Ted Cruz and other right wing congressmen.

  20. As I write this, north of 44% of comments in this thread are made by three known trolls or are responses to them, and that’s ignoring some of the lesser trolls.

    Just sayin’.

    • When trolls are allowed free run of any site they destroy the site. Apparently the new management at ttag cares little for the site.

They own the property they can make the rules. It’s not taking money from me. It is a shame that what was once a good site has spiraled down to trash.

      • One thing I notice is my comments now increasingly are “awaiting moderation”, but not the trolls. You can reply to anything I say, a reply tab is underneath my post, but it’s missing under most of the troll comments. Methinks the mod is putting his (or likely her) thumb on the scale. Upper management is probably not watching. The mice will play when the cats are away, I guess.

    • It is most kind, and quite thoughtful, for Mr. Zimmerman to provide a platform for these people, letting them publish incredibly lengthy screeds day in and day out, at no charge!

It is, however, right and proper at this juncture to petition for a name change of the site. I propose ‘All Dacian All The Time!’ as being a more accurate title than ‘The Truth About Guns.’ Another suggestion might be, ‘Minor69er And The Left: A Jaundiced Yet Accurate View of Evil White Supremacist Gun Owners.’

Either one is fine, if merely for the sake of truth in advertising.

      • Most trolls will disappear on their own if ignored.

If they don’t then, when I bothered with the arithmetic last night, they’d have accounted for less than 10% of comments (~8% IIRC). It’s the responses that they got which boosted troll sub-threads to nearly 50% of total comments. That’s exactly how trolls derail a page.

They’re not going to overrun a comment section unless they’re bots (which is a server-side correction anyway) or you help them do it. Stop helping them take over and, mostly, they’ll go away when the cease to get what they desire.

The whole thing is silly. The same people who will tell you that thieves steal your money and therefore your time and therefore part of your life will turn around and willingly give gobs of their time (life) to a troll for no apparent reason.

If you spend five minutes a day, six days a week, 50 weeks a year interacting reading/interacting with troll comments then (5x6x50 = 1500, 1500/60 = 25) you just wasted 25 hours of your life in a year. If you make, say $20/hour, if you subscribe to the logic about thieves then you just willingly gave a troll $500 for… what reason exactly?

You’d have been better off doing some OT to make $750, or doing just about anything else, than ever bothering to read a known troll’s comments.

  21. Just as a reminder that violent leftist stored the US capital during the Trump admin in 2018 to try and disrupt the nomination of then SCOTUS nominee Kavanaugh. This is apparently a sacred and wholesome expression of the right to protest.

A hundred or so pro-Trump protesters attempting to disrupt the delegate count as a protest against the theft of the 2020 election, a protest that did a faction of the damage to property the the later did, was an act of treason and the worst attack on America since 9/11. According to the same people that stole the election to begin with.

    • “A hundred or so pro-Trump protesters attempting to disrupt the delegate count“

It wasn’t a delegate count, it was an elector count and there were approximately 2000 individuals who violently invaded the United States Capitol, 725 have been charged in federal court.

Several of the violent insurrectionists have received lengthy prison sentences of 3 to 5 years in a federal penitentiary.

      • You never addressed his point about the fascist left storming the building to stop the scotus nomination.

You never address the main point of someone else’s comment.

Your type of troll is listed as a ‘sea lion’.

        • J-bird, those claims are a clear demonstration of false equivalence.

During the Supreme Court protests not one capital police officer was injured or assaulted. There was no damage to any building in the Capitol complex.

And during the Supreme Court protest many more people were arrested on the scene and led away in handcuffs, how many people were arrested on the scene during the Capitol insurrection on January 6?

“While protesters did push past a police barricade in front of the steps of the Supreme Court to pound on its doors, according to NBC News, USA TODAY could find no reference to protesters entering the Supreme Court building.

Capitol Police said in a press release they arrested more than 100 people for infractions that ranged from crowding and obstructing to unlawful conduct on Oct. 5, 2018, but The Washington Post reported that nearly 300 protesters had been arrested.

That followed hundreds of protesters arrested during earlier hearings, including about 200 in early September 2018, mostly for disorderly conduct, according to Reuters.

USA TODAY could find no reference to those protesters damaging the Supreme Court or Capitol, which was open to the public in 2018. During the Jan. 6 riot, though, the Capitol and its visitors center were closed to the public, including tours led by members of Congress and their staff, according to a security notice sent to all members of Congress.

The six photos used in the viral post are cropped and sourced from Reuters, the Associated Press and Getty Images, which covered the events.”

      • Yeah, a bunch of left wing nut jobs calling for revolution is a very different thing from the President of the United States telling a rebel-up crowd of thousands that the election was stolen and they need to “fight like hell” to take their country back.

        • “Fight like hell” is a figure of speech that, on it’s own, doesn’t even necessarily mean violently. In order to figure it out, let’s consider the context. Trump also said, “If they don’t fight, we have to primary the hell out of the ones that don’t fight.” That obviously suggests that he wanted people to effect change by voting. He also said to, “cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women.” He’s suggesting positive reinforcement, not violence. Last, but not least, he said, “to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard today.”

Clearly, the context isn’t violent. Even if he did call for violence, it wasn’t the people listening to his speech. The provocateurs at the Capitol started while he was giving the speech. It takes some time to get from the speech area to the Capitol steps. None of that matters to you because you trust the media narratives that have a history of being wrong about everything.

        • “a bunch of left wing nut jobs calling for revolution”

I think you mean conspiring for a revolution. The various factions and members communicated through social media to attack the police, police stations, federal buildings, statues, and property. But we’re supposed to ignore them and pretend like they aren’t terrorists?

        • “The provocateurs at the Capitol started while he was giving the speech“

Exactly the time table they were following, all part of the multi pronged plan. Whip the crowd into a frenzy, send them into the arms of your agent provocateur’s who’ve already started the agitation at the capital and then use the mob as the weapon to batter your way into the house chambers and interrupt the election certification process.

Another part of the plan was to have the oath keepers team capture high-value hostages, primarily Nancy Pelosi and Mike Pence, then use the hostages as bargaining chips to suspend the certification process.

You can say this wasn’t the plan, unfortunately there is much physical evidence including encrypted texts (via Signal and other apps all penetrated by the FBI and NRO), emails and even PowerPoint presentations laying out the plan for sedition.

        • “the oath keepers team capture high-value hostages, primarily Nancy Pelosi and Mike Pence, then use the hostages as bargaining chips to suspend the certification process.”

That’s funny! Even you don’t believe that, I hope.

        • Remind me again why they didn’t bring the guns? Were they more afraid of being charged with carrying than taking Pelosi and Pence hostage? Come on now.

  22. So the Oath Keepers, an extremely heavily armed segment of an extremely heavily armed demographic, plans an insurrection, or coup, or whatever you want to call it, and they decide to leave the guns back at the hotel. They’re making their big push to take over the country, and they’ve driven from all over the country, assembling to put the man they believe should rightly be President in power. They get up that morning, look over at their stacks of rifles, and think “nah”.

Sure, yeah, that makes total sense. No leaps of logic required for that.

  23. “The seditious conspiracy indictment alleges that, following the Nov. 3, 2020, presidential election, Rhodes conspired with his co-defendants and others to oppose by force the execution of the laws governing the transfer of presidential power by Jan. 20, 2021. Beginning in late December 2020, via encrypted and private communications applications, Rhodes and various co-conspirators coordinated and planned to travel to Washington, D.C., on or around Jan. 6, 2021, the date of the certification of the electoral college vote, the indictment alleges. Rhodes and several co-conspirators made plans to bring weapons to the area to support the operation. The co-conspirators then traveled across the country to the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area in early January 2021.

According to the seditious conspiracy indictment, the defendants conspired through a variety of manners and means, including: organizing into teams that were prepared and willing to use force and to transport firearms and ammunition into Washington, D.C.; recruiting members and affiliates to participate in the conspiracy; organizing trainings to teach and learn paramilitary combat tactics; bringing and contributing paramilitary gear, weapons and supplies – including knives, batons, camouflaged combat uniforms, tactical vests with plates, helmets, eye protection and radio equipment – to the Capitol grounds; breaching and attempting to take control of the Capitol grounds and building on Jan. 6, 2021, in an effort to prevent, hinder and delay the certification of the electoral college vote; using force against law enforcement officers while inside the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021; continuing to plot, after Jan. 6, 2021, to oppose by force the lawful transfer of presidential power, and using websites, social media, text messaging and encrypted messaging applications to communicate with co-conspirators and others.“

  24. Bring it on! Now that they are facing formal criminal charges, their defense council has the right to depose government witnesses and to have the right of discovery. With those, they can go after the FBI’s internal documents, e-mails, text messages, witness testimony, etc.. That should expose the collusion between the FBI, Nancy Pelosi, the DNC, and other ‘Deep State’ conspirators in the ‘False Flag’ operation used to justify these charges. Bring all this out in the open for the public to see just how ‘The Deep State’ works to silence American patriots.

    • They’ll stall it so that it won’t get out in the open until after the midterms. Remember the 2018 midterms? What were the dems running on? Holding the traitor accountable for colluding with Russia to steal the election. All they had to run on was a lie, just like now. The DOJ had the evidence the Russia conspiracy theory was bunk before Trump was even sworn in almost two years before that. Here we are years later and there still hasn’t been a reckoning for that. The criminal FBI leadership that made that possible continues to be financially rewarded by the establishment. And people are still trusting the lying media and the corrupt DOJ? Jan. 6 is Russia hoax 2.0.

  25. Yeah, and so far the only footage showing anything close to “teams” invading the Capitol, is the footage of FBI Black Clad Operatives moving in standard 2 X 2 formation while Capitol personnel quietly watch their movement.

    Now pull the other one…
