Don’t fall into the same trap as the gun-grabbers – over reporting does not indicate acceleration of occurrence. Mass shootings are still rare events.

All the more reason for constitutional carry and doing away with gun free zones. If the cops and the g can’t promise you protection then you need to be able to protect yourself and those around you.
I’m not paranoid enough (yet) to think that these recent shootings are somehow engineered, but the Gun Grabbers could not have gotten a better Christmas present, wrapped with a bow and everything. My heart breaks for the families, as for myself, I am battening down the hatches, because the storm is definitely coming now.

I agree that it is a rational thought. Maybe semi-rational at best. But we all know the people who issued this statement are behind closed doors talking about it now.
Its terrible what happened, myself and many others Ive been around are at a loss for words. My thoughts are with the families, children and staff. Also my thoughts are with my brother and sister first responders who will also have to live with this. A call involving a child can very hard to deal with, dont be ashamed to seek counseling and CISD.
Anyways, I feel on the contrary this is the time to discuss gun control. More so why it dosnt #u@&ing work!

I know I posted this exact quote in the other thread, and while I applaud their restraint, I simultaneously have to acknowledge that it’s not just feelings of sympathy that prompt the “today is not the day” comment. It’s also with the full and complete knowledge that if they tried to push anti-gun legislation of some kind today, in the heat of the moment, before the facts are known, there would likely be enough backlash that whatever they were pushing wouldn’t succeed.
The problem with “losing” your guns in a boating or similar accident and then reporting them lost to a LEO is that you’ll never be able use them again, even legally in public or as a DGU. Assuming that it gets to the point where “assault” weapons or handguns are banned and retroactively collected (which I doubt will happen, but this is for the sake of arguement), if it gets to that point, I can see LE tactics and laws enacted that make it mandatory to check serial numbers at ranges for lawful ownership. Cops and everyone’s favorite, the ATF will show up and conduct random spot checks. Sightings of scary black rifles or even hearing gunshots will bring down locals and feds alike to investigate. Even if the gun is still in a legal catagory, if you’re found to be in possession of a gun you said was lost, you would now be chaged with some sort charge related to providing false info. That could even be a felony offense if things really got bad. If the laws are overturned and sanity restored, those guns will still have to be broght back from the dead. If you lied about where they went, that lie never goes away. So in effect, if you go this route, you’ll have to bury them in your back yard and pray they are never discovered. Maybe you kids, kids, grandkids can dig them up and use them when enough time has elapsed.
