Mike M. writes…

I carry a SIG P320 Carry Small in 9mm with custom grip stippling, Hornady Critical Duty ammunition, a Haley Strategic Incog IWB Eclipse holster, a spare mag (10 rounds because I’m in California), and an Emerson Folding Bullnose Karambit knife.

Unfortunately, CCW permits are damn near impossible to obtain in my state, but because I’m teleworking, and so is my wife, I carry this on me at all times while I’m at home (especially with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s decision to mostly empty the jails in order to minimize the spread of COVID-19).

I actually ended up calling the police on three guys who were stealing from unlocked cars and casing the homes in my neighborhood, and officers ended up arresting them. But the police can’t arrest them all, and with an increase in crime in my neighborhood, I’m home-carrying now.

I also carry my iPhone at all times, but it wasn’t included in the picture because it’s the camera that I used to take the picture. In case anyone cares, it’s an iPhone XS Max in Rose Gold with a translucent pink case and a lama icon glued to it (I got my wife’s old phone when she got an iPhone 11). I considered changing the case when I got it, but then I decided that if someone wants to judge me for having a rose gold/pink phone with a lama on it, then those are the people that I don’t need in my life anyway.

    • Unfortunately for me (at least, as far as CCW permits go), I live in Los Angeles County. And my local jurisdiction is just as restrictive as the county sheriff.

      • I’m in Ventura Co, but have several gun owner buddies in LA Co. The Bay Area and LA are the 2 main places in CA where you need to CCW. One of my buddies, law biding, from Pasadena just carries illegally. Very nice custom Sig!

  1. Points on home carry, carry whenever you legally can. A rather large firearm when limited to 10rd mags but everyone has their preferences. Id be more inclined to use talon grips or skateboard grip tape rather than a stipple job for both cost and firearm preservation reasons. I am a fan of emerson knives. Throw a tactical light in the mix.

    • Nice, simple and practical carry.

Fortunately the P320 is a modular design and new grip modules are $35 – $50 from Brownell’s if you booger one up stippling it. It appears that P80 is about to market their version of a Sig P320 frame…with their usual enhancements..the pre-order price is $55.

Skateboard tape is good stuff! I bought a 12″ x 24″ sheet of it 5 – 6 years ago for something like $2.00 and still have enough left for the rest of my life. If it wears or you mess it up…ten minutes and you’re GTG.

      • Good point, i didn’t think of the modular grip frame, this might be the prime candidate for a diy stipple job. At $35-50, its certainly a better experimentation platform than glock, springfield or any of the other guns people attempt to stipple.

      • Wilson Combat makes a *fantastic* P320 Carry and Full Size grip module, when you can find them in stock.

But if I were the poster, carrying IWB in CA with a Carry slide, I’d probably rock a Compact or X-Compact grip module (15 rounds in free states) just to make it a bit more, well, compact, since you’re limited to 10 rounds in any case.

    • When it’s bedtime and that thing goes into my nightstand safe, an Insight M6X gets added onto it for any potential house clearing requirements. Just didn’t seem necessary to carry a tactics light around the house during the day/when the lights are on. And I haven’t ordered a new holster to accommodate said laser/light combo (at least, not yet).

  2. Looks like someone ran over the grip on that 320……several times.

And it looks like you have the most important thing taken care of…..have a gun.

Not Crambit fan….but that’s just me.

Home carry has always been a great idea….now it seems more prudent than ever.

  3. During freedom week I got 15 rounders for my g19. But I normally carry my j frame because with a pocket holster it disappears in my pocket.

Sig makes a good product. I used to like the single stack 9mm. I can’t remember its model number. But it fit my hand well.

    • I’ve never understood how J frames disappear in a front pocket . Do you wear baggy pants? Are you 6’5” or something ? I’m 5’9” 190, 34 inch waist , snubbies look like brick in my front pocket .

      • I am six one. I dress loose, for comfort. Including oversized T’s. Cargo shorts and sandals when the weather permits.

I use an uncle mike’s pocket holster. Lots of stuff looks like a brick in your pants pockets. Wallets, cell phones…….so long as they look like a brick and not a gun.

      • I’m an OFWG. 5’8″ 250.

Wrangler Jean’s. Mika pocket holster. Regular JFrame Grips with Tyler Tgrip adapter.

Started pocket carry in the 90s when i was 210. Kramer pocket holster.

        Just looks like a wallet.

Wint work with an LCR for me. Grips are too big.

The LCP really disappears in a pocket holster.

    • I too bought 15 rd mags for my home carry G19. When I go TDY to another state, I’m going to with buy g17 mags and/or a +2 mag extenders.

      • Duncan v. Becerra was just heard by the 9th Circuit Court on April 2nd, in which two of the three judges were appointed by Republican presidents. I am hopeful that they will uphold Judge Benitez’s ruling and bring back magazine freedom to California. Even if the 9th Circuit Court decides to rehear the case en banc, there should likely be another freedom week, during which I can have my hundred or so standard capacity mags currently being stored with a friend out of state legally shipped to me.

    • Why do I carry IWB in my house? Two reasons:

      1) I already owned this holster from when I used to conceal carry while living in a different state.

      2) My wife is not now, nor has she ever been, the biggest fan of or comfortable around firearms. But she understands my desire to home carry, especially given the situation going on in the world right now. So in an effort to be respectful and considerate of her feelings as well, I concealed carry at home.

      • Same situation with my wife. We were both raised conservative Catholic but she’s left-leaning and hates guns. So i carry AIWB at home.

  4. I don’t mind stippling, when it’s done right. This might be the first time they have done it, so I can understand…. but there are no take backs unless you sand it all down and reset. Basically thinning the entire thing until you get it right. For a first time, a simple non pattern style should have been used. Honestly, I have done both my Glocks and given thought to sending in my P365XLRZ (what a name) because of it’s lack of grip where it needs it most. Probably won’t happen though… I did the other two out of sheer boredom and hiding from the ex wife in the garage.

    • Also, if you are looking for (IMHO) the best holster for the p365/xl, Harry’s Holsters. I’ve tried multiple custom build sites and this is by far my favorite. Very well thought through. Watch the YouTube video that explains their design. I’ve bought wedges and wings but nothing ever seemed right. These guys include it all. Plus, he just looks like a decent guy. I mean, Harry. Right?

  5. Did Mike M move into California already owning the P320? I wouldn’t think that gun is on the approved roster.

    • I did indeed move to Cali while already in possession of my P320. I then had the “privilege” of paying a registration fee so that I could register my personally imported handgun with the CA DOJ.

And having a legally owned P320 in CA really is a thing of beauty, as I can reconfigure it in dozens, if not hundreds, of different ways (to include a B&T USW grip module with Tailhook pistol brace in lieu of stock), all without having to send in anymore paperwork to CA DOJ or pay anymore fees.

  7. Is there a metal sleeve/skeleton inside the grip on this gun?

Maybe I’m overly cautious, but I would be reluctant to do custom stippling on this gun using melting techniques, out of concern for compromising it’s structural integrity. It seems pretty thin to begin with.

    • It’s actually very thick from the factory, LOTS of material for stippling, and because the fire control unit is modular, there’s no mechanical bits in the grip other than the mag release.

  8. If you’re “carrying in the home” why don’t you just use an unobstructed duty style holster for it? What’s the point using a CC style holster?

    • Two reasons:

      1) I already owned this holster from when I used to conceal carry while living in a different state.

      2) My wife is not now, nor has she ever been, the biggest fan of or comfortable around firearms. But she understands my desire to home carry, especially given the situation going on in the world right now. So in an effort to be respectful and considerate of her feelings as well, I concealed carry at home.

    • Although I disagree with your assessment of my buddy’s stippling job, that’s probably one of the best movie references I’ve seen in a long time…

    • To be frank (not to be insulting), based on your grammar, I couldn’t really understand what you were trying to say, other than that you were insulting my choice of knife.

While you’re entitled to your opinion, I chose a bullnose karambit because it’s blade is more versatile than a standard karambit and the finger loop allows solid weapon retention during a fight and doesn’t require me to completely drop it or re-pocket it while conducting a reload.

But like I said, those are just my Reasons for choosing to carry it. You (and others) may have your own compelling reasons to not, and I respect your choices.

Similar to what happened when the US Supreme Court struck down its federal ban in 2018, this legislation allows https://escores24.com/ provinces to decide individually whether they want to legalize sports wagering.Ending the federal ban on single-game betting should change the landscape of Canadian sports betting significantly. It would mean more opportunities for bettors to bet legally and could lead to provinces opening up licensing to other operators.
