I carry a SR40, so more 40 S&W fans here
I just picked up anSR 40C, usually carry a G23 or a G42 depending on what I’m wearing. I like it, ergonomics are good, switched the backstrap for the flat one, you can hold high, trigger is pretty good, reset is a little long. Solid gun, good price. What rounds does yours like? I haven’t had it to the range het to run a bunch of different ammo through it yet.
Needs a light.
Before GadsenFlag mentions the missing flashlight, I wanted to go on record that the M&P Shield and the .40 S&W are both underrated. Nice choice.

Wrong. Both are way overrated.
And you back that up with what? .40 is a powerful round and the M&P is a reliable platform. Coming from a Sig user who has M&P. SO the .40 is over rated why because you shoot the larger 10mm or like bigger holes in target? Or do you prefer a 9 because you don’t like the recoil. Edify us,…. waiting,…..
Pretty much everything Smith makes these days is overpriced IMO.
As for the caliber….I’ve owned guns in .40 before. It’s not a terrible caliber, but you have to figure all those police departments that have ditched it in recent years had their reasons.
They ditched it for the same reason they adopted it; following the FBI fad. If the FBI went over to super soakers and nerfed guns all the police departments would follow suit.
Scott, it’s the bean counters, not the gunfighters, that want 9mm. Smaller bullets don’t cost as much.

How hard would it have been to include a picture of a spare mag, a mag carrier, knife and a flashlight?
That holster looks like it has some miles on it. No night sights?
He’s got a CT laser on the grip. Looks good to me.
And for most people a pocket knife is more of a utility tool than a true defensive weapon.

As for knives mine are tools like my EDC Leatherman Signal. Which remindes me I should submit an EDC update after my Workout Vest WICN posts.
I notice this guys name is James and that has me thinking this is the perfect EDC for the inestimable Janes Campbell.
Nice CD arry but I do not like M&P extended mags. They are way to big. My 14 rounder for my 45 makes the pistol to awkward to carry or shoot.

I might call out no spare mag but you have more rounds than when I carry a 43 with a spare mag. (I have 7 rounders).
I recommend a light that is not a phone.
Can’t go wrong with a 40 and 15 rounds is plenty. If it were a 9mm you would need an extra mag. One 15 round mag of 40 is enough as long as you can shoot straight. The extended mag is also up to you and not the peanut gallery on this page. I also like it when someone realizes that their phone is also a flashlight. Why carry extra gear that you can’t get to in the moment because its stuck in your wahzoo because all the other crap in your pockets. Organize, consolidate and use alternatives, go light. No extra mag, no extra flashlight, but, personally I always carry a knife. In fact two knifes, one in my front pocket and one hanging from around my neck. Then again I also carry a NAA Black Widow in a shoulder holster. Putting everything in your pockets and on your belt is going to weight you down clobber your pockets and get you killed. Spread it out, consolidate and have alternatives.
Darn, I forgot my XD 40 or my Glock 23 as my primary Cary. In my case 12 + 5 is enough
I don’t care to lend my phone to co workers or others who need a light. There also places you might need to use a light where a phone won’t fit, or could get dropped or banged on something.
But to each their own. It is supposed to be a free-ish country.
Nice and simple. I dont like to carry knives, extra mags, flashlights, etc. The pistol and caliber wouldn’t be my choice but to each their own.
This is not an EDC… it’s a gun, a watch, and a piece of paper with an old phone on it.

HK USP .40 CAL with 3 mags in backpack today, with 2 boxes of 50 at all times in work truck ya know just in case.
M&P has some good pistols in their line however the 40c mod 1 has quality issues. Stock sights has dot issues. The slide rails and slide itself rattles way too much. The trigger is way too mushy for me. It breaks like oatmeal with no wall which makes it hard to learn the rest. The gun has nice looks but much crap lies beneath the surface. The gun is fine for people who shoot once in a while.
I still carry a S&W40c. This is the “Glock copy” that S&W sold in the ’90’s,,, and Glock sued them and WON, and just about put S&W totally out of business.
S&W then came out with another line of semi-autos, and regained their prominence as a major supplier of quality firearms!
I don’t want to be a killjoy but I never advertise what I carry or what I have… Being the grey man is a good thing…

And I’m not a fan of the .40 Short & Wimpy.
It’s a compromise that pleases nobody, combining the worst features of a .45 ACP (limited capacity, expensive ammo) with the worst features of a 9mm (limited power), all while shortening the lifespan of your gun by beating up the slide with snappy recoil!
