Madison, NC, January 4, 2012 – Remington Arms Company and its parent, Freedom Group, Inc. (FGI), are pleased to announce that the board of directors has appointed Robert L. Nardelli as Chief Executive Officer . . .

Mr. Nardelli was named director and a member of FGI’s Office of the CEO in September, 2010, following the resignation of the former CEO.  “Over the past 15 months, under Bob Nardelli’s strong leadership, Freedom Group has enhanced its operational capabilities and is now positioned to focus on customers with renewed intensity on technology and product development,” said John Blystone, Chairman of Freedom Group, Inc.  ”We are most fortunate to have one of the top business leaders of his generation at the helm of this iconic American company.”

Mr. Nardelli joined Cerberus Capital Management in the spring of 2007, and, shortly thereafter, was named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Chrysler Motors Company, LLC.  Mr. Nardelli will continue to serve as an advisor to Cerberus and CEO of its operations team, Cerberus Operations and Advisory Company, LLC.  Prior to joining Cerberus, Mr. Nardelli was Chairman and CEO of the Home Depot, Inc.

  1. My god . throughout my youth we always bought remington ammo because it was always good. their rifles were the standard. on the farm we all love the big green . remington and john deere. both were as good as it got. what a sad
    development this is.

  2. Once you’re in the major CEO club, you’re set for life. Golden parachutes were invented to subsidize their failures.

  3. Some British company bought Smith&Wesson back in the Clinton dark ages, and turned over the management of the company to some schmuck who had been CEO of a lawn mower maker. The Brits and the lawn mower CEO decided (over the vehement objections of the S&W old-time staff) to appease the Clintonistas and anti-gun Mass. legislature by signing an agreement that would have required all stocking S&W dealers (in ALL states) to report the names/addresses of their gun buyers to the Clinton admin and the Mass. AG. S&W sales crashed, for some unknown reason (probably due to the eeevil gun culture). A few years after signing their appeasement agreement, the British company sold S&W to an Arizona company of Americans who made in-the-gun trigger locks for firearms. The sale price was about 10% of the Brit’s original purchase price, if I recall correctly.

The new American owners IMMEDIATELY and very publicly repudiated the agreement with the Clintonistas and the Mass. AG, and announced that S&W was an American company again. And that they would NOT honor any anti-2nd Amendment agreements of the previous owners. It took them about 2 years to get rid of the “S&W appeased Clinton” smell, but they have been doing well ever since. I believe they also informed the State of Mass. that any further attempts to use S&W to further the anti-gun agenda would result in the company moving to Arizona.

Remington needs to take a lesson from this: American gun owners and buyers (aka, “the gun culture”) ARE politically involved, and they will not support a business that ignores their devotion to the 2nd Amendment. Remington’s new CEO and the Freedom Group will find that gun buyers are not typical American sheep-like consumers.

  4. Before he blew Chrysler up and was run out of Home Depot Nardelli was a GE Vice prez who was passed over for CEO in favor of Immelt. Sooner or later Bob has to retire or die trying.

  5. Maybe we should wait a few years for a new CEO? Then they can finally get their head’s outta their rears and make decent quality firearms. Shame to hear about Marlin’s problems since my dad recently bought a Marlin Golden 39M built in 1978, and that rifle works like a champ. Maybe someone in Marlin can go to a gunshop, pick up a few old rifles, and find out how they used to do it.

  6. I expected a much larger response, it seems the
Big Green crowd is in shudder mode at this most unfortunate news (for Remarlinton owners) I mean this is just not good by from vantage point! (anti’s excluded)

Wow, at least DuPont never messed up Remington like the evil TFG has. This once proud industry leader is free falling so fast under TFG’s heavy hand it is incedible. Nardelli’s track record is styatement enough I guess. Get thee hence Bob!

  7. If you have a Remington product under recall for safety issues, DON’T BOTHER trying to resolve your problem. I recommend replacing it with any other brand!!!  They’ve had a 597 for over 8 months now. Was supposed to be rebarrelled to .22cal. was given the excuse of no parts available. When asked for refund was offered half of what was paid for and still no refund. DON’T BUY REMINGTON!!!!!!!!!!

  8. I know it is wrong to be so hateful towards an individual to wish him dead, and let me make it perfectly clear that I am, by no means whatsoever, even suggesting that anyone take matters in their own hands.

However, I do truly believe that this world would be a better place if Robert Nardelli was no longer a part of it.
