No, they wouldn’t have better, but at least they weren’t hiding their true colors. Reagan pretended to be a small government pro-2A guy. In reality he grew the government, grew the debt and took a dump on the gun rights.
As to voting libertarian… Yeah, frankly I’m really sick of voting for the lesser of two evils. This year we voted in Republican majority in both chambers of the legislature here in Nevada and we also had a “Republican” governor. Through concerted efforts they voted in the biggest tax increase in Nevada history and killed all meaningful pro-gun bills like Constitutional Carry and Campus Carry. With friends like these… I am DONE with the Republican party, which is a bunch of RINOs anyways, just the other side of the coin. I’m done being of the naive sheep, thinking there’s a difference. In reality politicians are all power-hungry whores.
I don’t associate with Libertarians either, with their politics of open borders and noninterventionism. I am done voting, I am done participating in this farce. I’m going to take care of my family, prepare for the worst and hope for the best. That’s all I can do. If we have another 10-15 years of relative prosperity I will have time to teach my sons how to shoot and how to take care of themselves and our family.

Well..someday Mommy I’ll do my best to infringe on citizens 2nd amendment rights and then close all the mental hospitals setting the mentally ill free to become homeless or Democrats.
Reagan did not shut down one single mental hospital. He signed a bill that allowed private mental facilities to treat more patients thereby reducing the burden on the State. Once in Washington, he signed the law that reduced Federal funding and allowed the States and private institutions to continue treatment of patients. The States wanted to keep the Federal funding so they could continue to abuse tax money. After the bi-partisan law went into effect, the State mental facilities started shutting down because of poor budgeting. They could have continued getting Federal funding through Medicaid. Basically Reagan transferred the responsibility to the States and the States dropped the ball.
Don;t try to educate the idiots, Michael. It’s not worth the effort. Anybody who hates Reagan never had to suffer Jimmy Carter, who made the current POTUS look competent and pro-American.
I don’t know, I thought it was accepted that Carter has been relieved of his title of Worst President Ever, by a landslide.
Hmmm….IMHO Carter was just plain inept as a president without any real malice towards America. After a decade or two after presidency he then developed a hatred towards America and a fondness for marxism.
OTOH, Obama has a straight ahead hatred of what America is and what it stands for. Therefore his mission is to “transform” it to the typical leftist socialist hellhole.
I was a kid then, so my only real memories of Carters’ tenure was waiting with my mother in our huge Ford station wagon to buy gas, in a line of cars seven deep, and the gas station limiting us to half a tank, due to rationing. Oh, and everybody was pissed at the Iran. I remember my neighbor had a big sticker on his car of Mickey Mouse holding the American flag and giving the middle finger. It said “Hey Iran”.
I do remember Reagan though. I wrote him a letter in Junior High saying I supported the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI), aka the ‘Star Wars’ program, because as a kid who liked Sci-Fi it was the coolest thing I ever heard of. I got a response letter from the White House and hung it on my wall. The movie Red Dawn came out about then and made an impression on me and pretty soon I was reading every gun magazine I could find and was running around in the woods with my friends ‘training’ with BB guns and a home-made shoulder fired rocket launcher I made out of PVC pipe and a model rocket kit.
