According to the Journal-News of Middletown, Ohio, police found an arsenal of weapons inside the home of a Middletown man after he was arrested during an altercation with officers. WCPO.com said “He kept safes full of guns at his home that he inherited from his father.” [What did he inherit? The home? The safes? The guns? All of it?] Police found 20 weapons inside the home of William Jefferys [epic mugshot above], including “high-powered rifles, sniper rifles with scopes [not much good without them], night vision equipment and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.” Hundreds? <Gasp!> According to Det. Tim Meehan, there was a 100-round drum . . .

just inside the front door that contained .223 ammo, “which is for the high powered rifle.” Mhm. High-powered. Ok. Jefferys was arrested on charges including assault on a corrections officer, two counts of aggravated menacing, drug paraphernalia, loud noise violation [Ha!] and obstructing official business.

A 7-year-old student in Perry County, Pennsylvania was found with two rounds of ammunition at school recently. In a perfectly reasonable and sane reaction, the boy’s life was not ruined over the event. According to Cpl. Kenneth Tallman of the state police, the case would be closed and no charges would be filed, due to the child’s age and that the ammunition did not fall under the definition of a weapon on school property under state law. School officials could not be reached for comment, but hopefully their reaction was similarly measured. When good examples like this are seen, they need to be noted, and those involved held up as good examples to those who would overreact.

USA Brass in Bozeman, Montana was under investigation last week for possible violations of environmental laws. Jeff Martinez, special agent in charge of the U.S. EPA’s Criminal Investigation Division in Denver, confirmed that agents were searching the business after reports of violations of environmental laws, but would not comment on specifics. The company was fined in September of last year for exposing employees to lead. In October, some 22 employees were found to have elevated levels of lead. OSHA also found several other serious violations at that time, including failure to prohibit food and beverages from areas with excessive accumulations of lead, failure to perform required medical examinations, and failure to post required signs in hazardous areas. After the OSHA inspection last year, the company complied with federal agency’s requirements for several months, according to USA Brass CEO Zach Flanagan.

A man was arrested in Lancaster, Pennsylvania last week after he got “unruly” at a bar and threatened other patrons with a gun, and tried to attack responding officers with a knife. Employees and patrons managed to subdue Jason Bissell, 33, including removing and securing his SIG Sauer 9mm. While he was resisting arrest, proned out on the ground, officers saw him try to reach toward his waist. After managing to handcuff him, they found he’d been lying on top of a folding knife approximately 6″ long. Before placing Bissell in the paddy wagon, he was searched again, and that search turned up three more knives (so he’s like the edged weapon version of our Rabbi) and a box of 9mm ammunition. Police said that between gun magazines and the box of ammo, Bissell was carrying more than 100 rounds on him. He did have a valid permit to carry a concealed firearm, and to the best of my knowledge, there’s no restriction on bar carry in Pennsylvania.

A couple weeks ago I featured Part A of Carnik Con’s AK-47s comprehensive showcase of AK variants. Tonight we’ve got the second and final installment in the series, including the music video for his song, Hold an AK.

He also released the epic music video portion as a standalone. You can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgpEuCUm6SE

  1. … to the best of my knowledge, there’s no restriction on bar carry in Pennsylvania. …

    Correct sir.

  2. as long as the guns were kept inside the home and not used to threaten the gestapo (police) there shouldn’t be a problem, other than the fact that the police will do or say anything they can (truth or not) to seize the guns of yet another American, either way he’ll get a raw deal, the system is broken and we all have to pay for it.

      • Does it? All I remember reading was something about Cincinatti having a magazine capacity ban that was technically unconstitutional anyway. Could you direct me towards any law on the books? I legitimately would like to know, I kinda live here.

        • If I recall correctly the ban is gone. Ohio isn’t on the list of states you can’t ship to with an arbitrary number after it for mag caps. Though I could be wrong.

        • You may have magazines over 30rds, however, you may only load 30rds in your magazine.

          It is quite silly.

    • I’d like to hear more about this “confrontation with police”. Something related like that makes me think of police knocking on his door and announcing they were going to search his house for guns without a warrant, and when he objected they arrested him for resisting arrest. IOW, how does a confrontation with police authorize the police to search his home and announce to the press what guns he has?

      Sounds seriously fishy.

      • According to the news story linked in the post, the guy “allegedly” fired off some rounds in the wee hours of the morning and made death threats to the responding officers. He also attacked the corrections officer when they were proccessing him after the arrest. Sounded to me like he was either really high or slobbering drunk, otherwise his remarks sound like he is totally off his nut. I was surprised to see he was in Ohio, because he sounds like some of my mutant neighbors.

  3. I watched the Carnik Con video this morning and had a good laugh. My wife watched it and thought I was crazy again, still. It’s too bad that the ATF broke all of those RPKs.

    “This B**** just never jams.”

  4. That there is what’s known as the crazy eye. Crystal meth is such a boon to the trailer park crowd.

His old man worked a lifetime to get the house and the safes full of guns and he had no one better to leave it to than this chud. Sad.

      • I am leaving everything I own to my favorite relative or young friend when I get older.

Blood is meaningless when it comes to stewardship or heirlooms.

        • That’s, unfortunately, true in many cases. I am blessed in having sons and daughters that I can trust. But even my group has that 1 member that can’t keep his sh1t together.

I have a son that went feral at an early age. I love him, but I don’t like him. If that makes any sense. It’s illegal for him to own a gun and I don’t disagree with that.

    • I have a feeling that “crazy eye” is due to a beatdown during his altercation with police. He looks like he’s been OC’d and battered a bit.

      • I’m gonna guess that a facefull of pepper spray and a little light battering is just a regular Saturday night for this gentleman…

  5. That Pennsylvania piece reminds me of myself. On the few occasions I’ve been searched by police, I’ve ALWAYS been asked why I was carrying SO MANY KNIVES. The answer is basically, why do you have so many keys on your keyring? No drama, of course, because I’m polite to a fault, and very cooperative.

  6. According to court records, Jefferys has a long list of prior arrests and charges, including carrying a concealed weapon, attempted drug abuse marijuana and disorderly conduct.

“Attempted drug abuse marijuana.” Who’s surprised this guy couldn’t even manage to abuse it, though he made an attempt?

    • Is it just me, or is that the saddest excuse for a criminal history ever? Disorderly conduct and *attempted* use of marijuana? Which cop’s Cheerios did he piss in?

      • Despite all the put-downs, apparently due to the picture alone, I’m agreeing with you. Something stinks here, I’m imagining a Swiss Army knife as his “concealed weapon”, and resisting unlawful police aggression as “assault on a police officer”, and I thoroughly believe most police work with a baggie of pot in their possession to claim came from somebody they don’t like for some reason. The whole article sounds bogus, if there was something actually damning, I suspect there would be a lot more detail given. Who cares how many guns he owns? I bet I have more than he does (guns, not safes), and a whole lot more ammo, too. Magazine limits are obviously an infringement and therefore unconstitutional regardless of what the SC eventually says, and hunting rifles are also “sniper rifles”. Something really stinks.

    • To the average journo, an arsenal is probably any amount over one handgun, a rifle, and a shotgun. An ammo hoard is probably anything over 50 rounds.

      • Pretty much, yeah.

You have to remember, to people who know nothing about guns, the assumption is 1 bullet = 1 death.

So to them, 50 rounds seems like a lot.

    • Hey, he had SAFES (multiple) FULL (packed to the gills) of guns, man! Never mind that 20 guns would barely fill two of the smallest gun safes on the market.

The really scary thing is he had a 100-round drum (unattached to any firearm, it sounds like) NEAR THE FRONT DOOR. One second lapse of attention, and that thing could have gotten out, mated with an AR-15, and derailed trains, shot planes out of the sky, killed a thousand kids, who knows what kind of chaos could have ensued. Ammo drums should be crate trained, people. Don’t let them near the front door.

  7. Hummph. I’ll go through “hundreds of rounds of ammunition” this weekend, shooting Steel Challenge and USPSA.

Hundreds of rounds, indeed. (eye roll)

  8. It’s a good think that William Jefferys’ old man didn’t leave him a dog, too, or Old Bowser would be howling in the heavenly chorale by now.

    • …which would have been Don Charles’ gain. Doubtless by now he wants to do an eternal paradise remake of Jingle Bells.

On the other hand, there’s a reason they say a stool pigeon sings like a canary, not a dog…

  9. “(so he’s like the edged weapon version of our Rabbi) ”

And that’s why I love this site. As they say on the interwebs, “LMAO!”

  10. since when is having 100s of rounds eyebrow-raising?

I am new to the “club” but even I have more than “100s” of rounds in .223 – which by the way – high powered? I am 100#, have a great time with my Mini14 @ .223

My understanding this caliber is for small varmints. high powered?

  11. 20 guns and hundreds of rounds? He was obviously planning something big. Must be one of those crazy gun nuts.

  12. I only carry one knife during the day, typically if I think I might need something like a multi tool it keep it in my backpack.

  13. 20 guns in his safe and the police are alarmed?…..sh&t.. down here in Texas we call that a starter kit……..LOL

      • Actually, I’m a Yankee, spent time at Ft. Puke Louisiana though. You sort of acquire the ways of the good old boys by osmosis. Never met a class of folks that shot truer and spoke straighter….. Or was that spoke truer and shot straighter ? I was just grateful that they only kicked the crap outta me once for being a Yankee

  14. “Get your girlfriend a lower back tattoo of Carnik Con’s logo.”

What’s interesting about his videos is that they reveal a high level of production values and video/editing know-how, and can be quite educational. And notice just how many variants he had, including the full autos. This guy is definitely connected to some serious firearm collectors somehow.

He could turn out to be what FPS Russia could always have been.

This guy is definitely one to watch.

  15. WTF is a “high powered rifle”? Is it a rifle that fires a round roughly the same diameter as my very low-powered .22LR plinking pistol, and with less power than my daddy’s .30-06 hunting rifle?

(Wait a minute, the latter has a ‘scope, does that make it a ‘sniper rifle’, too?)

  16. Not to long ago I would have assumed the worse of that guy in the mug shot. Nowadays I wonder what kind of excessive beat-down he got during his arrest because the police were pissed that they got interrupted during their doughnut shift.

  17. Perry County suffers a lot of abuse among the more “sophisticated” folks in the central Pennsylvania region. Think recycled “West Virginia” jokes. But some things they get right. I wish I could get my wife to move up there.

  18. Mattv2099: You definitely changed the crystalline structure of whatever material the brake was made of. There will probably be lots of corrosion and possibly long term cracking. Strange demonstration. How do you think of this shit?

  19. Has anyone ever seen an ad or offering for a “low-powered” rifle? I keep hearing about “high-powered” rifles, so it reasons that there must be a “low-powered” one as well, right?

  20. In Middletown, Ohio 20 guns and merely hundreds of rounds of ammo would be considered a poor mans collection or a starter kit. It’s nearly as deep into gun nut country as I am and indeed the entire portion of Ohio south of Columbus is.

Also the police in this part of the country, even in Cincinnati, are known for being earthy, level and respectful by and large.

I’m going to extrapolate from the charges that the man invited the attention and eventual ire of the police with his music and his reaction to their presence. Lets keep in mind that the histrionics over the weapons are courtesy of the Journal-News of Middletown, Ohio, not it’s police department.

  21. 100s of rounds of what? A 500 value pack of .22 or a can or two of .50 BMG?

More importantly, does it matter? Nope. But…

The lead story is a good reminder to all of us enthusiasts, that what to us seems minor and a “good start” to a collection of firearms, is more likely than not seen as extreme by Joe and Jane Average.

No it doesn’t help that the media uses such gushing terms of shock and horror as “arsenal” implying that this man was accumulating some kind of military stockpile for unknown purposes and thank God the po-po caught on to him and snatched him up. Derp.

But still, it is a reminder that even when talking to someone neutral or of no opinion on 2A matters, our interests are going to be seen as outside the mainstream.

So like our liberal friends always say, “People be ignorant.” Either we educate them or MAIG and Moms Demand Some Action will.

Best method I have found is to take them out to the range and show them what a hoot it is. I’m doing my bit, one blonde with 36Cs at a time. (Chuckle.). You?
