The FBI got involved earlier this month when a Washington State law enforcement officer, Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich, received death threats because he vowed not to enforce the state’s new gun control laws. He’s one of about a dozen Washington sheriffs who believe the new laws that passed in November via a controversial ballot measure are unconstitutional.

Making death threats is a crime. Making them via the internet is even dumber and a federal crime. Yesterday the angry poster received a visit from local law enforcement authorities.

The Spokesman-Review has the details . . .

Jaydin H. W. Ledford was peacefully taken into custody after authorities knocked on his door shortly before noon, according to Okanogan County Sheriff Tony Hawley.

Ledford was arrested on one count of harassment, a state charge, and booked into the Okanogan County Jail, but shortly afterward he was transferred to FBI custody, Hawley said.

Special Agent Christian Parker, who leads the FBI’s Spokane field office, said agents were working with federal prosecutors on a charging decision.

The 23-year-old Ledford made no attempt to conceal his identity, posting the threats from his own Facebook account.

“I-1639 is law,” said one threat posted on Feb. 1. “sheriffs that are non compliant will be shot. by me.”

“Ozzie Knezovich is gonna get a bullet in his skull,” another post said.

That’s right, Ledford threatened to shoot a Sheriff in the head over gun control law enforcement. And then the budding keyboard commando realized that someone was reading what he was posting.

The Facebook account identifies Ledford as a Marxist and generated dozens of politically charged posts each day. But the account went silent on the afternoon of Feb. 5, the day Knezovich announced his office was investigating the threats.

Imagine that.

While he was arrested on a charge of harassment, that could very well change. Making a death threat in Washington State is a Class C felony. That’s up to five years and a $10,000 fine. Federally speaking, threatening via interstate communications (those intertubes go everywhere these days) is another possible five-year sentence.

According to the spokesman.com report, Ledford has no prior criminal record, so he’s probably going to get off without jail time. Still, it’s going to cost him.

        • And the lefties would say that Fascism is a right wing-capitalist concept. And you would both be wrong. Fascism is a third path, neither left nor right. Militarist, single party, nation-state first/citizen second. Strong concepts of strong over the weak, manifest destiny to expand and conquer for the greater glory of the State. Routinely making use of myth and folklore as propaganda to encourage the population to live their lives for the State’s greater good.

          A Fascist State is the natural blood enemy of western democracy, monarchy, all forms of socialist and communist states. When confronted by both democracies and socialist states, the Fascist state desires to attack in both directions and works towards that goal.

          Fascism does make use of capitalism but subjugates it to the greater needs of the State. So long as a capitalist is beneficial to the State, he may prosper. If he crosses the State or fails to deliver upon obligations to the State, he’s in serious trouble.

          Fascism is a complex concept. Having only some of the elements does not make a State fascist. It’s an all of it, or it is some other sort of creature.

        • No it isn’t; just because right wingers don’t want to associate with it doesn’t change definitions. Fascism is ultra-nationalistic (the opposite of the left) and directly opposed to liberalism and marxism. It’s about as left-wing as the DPRK is democratic.

          Definitions matter. Stop calling everyone you don’t like ‘fascist’ without understanding the word or you’re as bad as the lefties calling everyone ‘nazi’.

        • Fascism most certainly is a left-wing ideology and always has been. Trying to justify it as being on the right flies in the face of facts, political science, and history. Just because some tenants of capitalism and nationalism remain (I love how you are trying to parse nationalism vs the State), does not move everything else into the camp of the right. As far as a political spectrum would go, short of a revolution, you would progress from Fascism > Socialism > Communism, with all three firmly on the left end of the spectrum.

      • Nazis were fascists. Nazi == National Socialism. Hitler and other top nazis gave many speeches proclaiming socialism.

        Near as I can tell, the only difference between fascists and communists is that communists directly control the means of production, while fascists tell the owners what to do. A distinction without a difference.

        • No. Read Albert Spiers book. Hitler took a lot of heat from fellow National-Socialists because he made a series of deals with businesses. It almost lost him the support of his own party. Hitler argued that he needed these argreements in order to further solidify his control over the country. Fascism and National-Socialism is socialism…Hitler just deviated from it a little to strengthen his rule over Germany. The National-Socialist and Fascist were no friend of capitalism by any means. The Right versus Left thing was created as part of Communist propaganda to first demonize other socialist ideologies and then to demonize capitalism. Read the writing of people who actually lived during that time, and ignore the regurgitated propaganda spewed in school history books. It will open your eyes.

        • The original platform of the NSDAP included the abolition of interest charging loans, redistribution of private property, etc, leaving no doubt about its socialist ideology. AH walked the party back from it, knowing that even he couldn’t sell it to the German people.

      • The original Fascista, Benito Mussolini, got his start as a publisher of a socialist magazine. He developed his own form of socialism and would not take orders from Moscow – another socialist government, if you didn’t know – which accused every socialist that wouldn’t take Stalin’s orders of being anti-socialist, or fascist. But they’re not. Both the Fascisti party and the National Socialist German Workers party were socialist. They both pass the duck test.

        The book “Liberal Fascism” by Jonah Goldberg will give you more details.

He realized that the Marxist dream of the proletariat rising up in revolution was not going to happen after observing behavior of Marxists fighting each other because their loyalty to their country was stronger than their loyalty to their Marxist ideology. So he combined the two, Marxism and Stateism and create Fascism. Stalin actually sent him a letter commending him on this.

        ALL liberal, leftists, commies and such are Fascists. The BIG LIE was started after WWII to pin Fascism on the right to let the Democrats off the hook since their racist policy against the black population was used as the framework for the Nazi activity against the Jews.

      • fascist and marxist are not opposites at all it is just a matter of degree of state control. fascist tends to allow some business to operate under strict govt control whereas marxism it is under total govt control. in all other respects both are still totalitarian dictatorships that hate liberty and the responsibility that goes with it. under fascism those business operators tend to face harsh penalties if they dont produce exactly what the govt dictates they produce up to and including death, anotherwords the govt sets them up to take the fall for their bad decisions.

The degree of control and the lack of freedom is what separates the left from the right; the will of it’s people to accept some level of encroachment on freedom for the advantage of some level of order and stability the only thing that allows any government to exist.

          I find it hard to believe 7 out of 10 are registered Democrats. Seeing as how 9 out of 10 weren’t even old enough to vote. And 11 out of 10 were so nuts they no longer believed in society, voting and it being better to kill a bunch of folks before killing themselves.

          I bet they’ll say this guy in the article is a registered Democrat. Which is basically impossible cause Washington State does NOT require us to register our party affiliation to vote.

          Honestly, I want to say what’s the difference between Democrats and Republicans because there truly isn’t any difference. The emigrants from California overwhelmed the indigenous population of Oregon changing it from a politically independent, mostly conservative state to a hardcore leftist, practically socialist authoritarian state. A few counties control the state and dictate rules to the other counties. Washington is pretty much the same situation. A totalitarian “capitol” with a bunch of “districts” of subjagated people like some movie depicting a dystopian future.
