It’s a shame Mr. Johnson can’t sue these officious bastards individually, too . . . Lawsuit Alleges Michigan Agency Told Grandfather He’d Have to Give Up Gun Rights to Foster His Grandson

Caseworkers from MDHHS and a county judge told William Johnson of Ontonagon, Mich., that he had to choose between his Second Amendment rights and fostering his grandson, according to a complaint filed with the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan.

The 54-year-old Johnson is a retired, disabled Marine with a Michigan Concealed Pistol License. He and his wife were asked by the state of Michigan to foster their grandson. According to Johnson’s suit, however, the issues began as soon as he arrived at MDHHS to pick up the child.

Johnson said he was searched for a firearm and, although he was not carrying a gun, officials demanded to see his concealed carry license. He was then told he would need to give MDHHS the serial numbers of all of his firearms, including rifles and shotguns, and register them with the agency.

After questioning why he would have to register his firearms in order to foster his grandson, Johnson said he was told by one caseworker, “if you want to care for your grandson you will have to give up some of your constitutional rights.”

When he objected, he was told there would not be a “power struggle” and MDHHS “would just take his grandson and place him in a foster home” if he didn’t comply with their requests.

When the facts and logic aren’t on your side, play the race card . . . NRA’s cowardly fights for the white to bear arms

All this sound and fury is telling, coming as it does on the heels of the NRA’s utter silence on a matter that you’d think would be a lot more pressing for a group calling itself “America’s foremost defender” of the right to bear arms.

After all, it’s been two years, and the family of Philando Castile is still waiting for the NRA to speak up for this man who was killed by a panicky cop while legally exercising his right to bear arms.

For that matter, the families of Tamir Rice and John Crawford III, both killed while holding toy guns, are also waiting. But all three were black, so the wait will likely be long. Apparently, the NRA doesn’t actually defend the right to bear arms — just the white to bear arms.

Cabot Shooter Takes Gold at NRA National Pistol Championship

PITTSBURGH – July 19, 2017 – Jonathan Shue of Cabot Guns, a top manufacturer of American-made precision firearms, stunned military shooters at this year’s NRA National Pistol Championship by taking first place and winning the Gold at the NRA National Matches.

Shue, a former Marine now competing as a civilian for Team Cabot Guns, emerged on top in matches that involved 468 competitors from around the world in the three-day tournament at historic Camp Perry in Port Clinton Ohio.

“We are all super excited about Jon’s incredible performance,” said Rob Bianchin, Founder and CEO of Cabot Guns. “That said, I’m not surprised. Most folks have heard about Cabot Guns as the manufacturer of pistols made from meteorite but first and foremost we have proven time and again that we make the most accurate 1911’s on the planet.

“A Cabot Gun is the hands of a disciplined athlete like Jon is certainly a Championship combination”

Oopsie . . . Fight attendant busted with bullets in his carry-on

An American Airlines flight attendant landed in hot water in Japan after 30 bullets were found in his carry-on bag, officials said.

The unnamed crew member told cops at Tokyo’s Narita International Airport that he forgot about the ammo before going through security in the US, police official Masatoshi Ito said.

Authorities found the bullets loaded in two magazines Saturday during a security check before the employee boarded his on-duty flight back to the US.

Go Further and Hunt Longer with Tenzing’s New TZ UC17 Upland Chaps

Plano, IL (July 19, 2017) – The pursuit of upland birds, bunnies or boars requires bush whacking through thick cover, where thorns, brush and briars can shred the pants off any unprepared or ill-equipped hunter. The game can leave the skin on their legs looking like a bloody game of connect the dots. It’s a mistake that’s only made once.

Specialized upland pants or chaps are a must for any hunter whose avocation involves busting brush or thundering through thickets. Hands down, chaps are the preferred option.

These versatile over-garments can be worn on top of any pants and afford maximum protection against the brush, thorns, cactus needles, dew and other perils conspiring to send hunters back to the truck early.

First world problems . . . Fake guns, real problems at Comic-Con

Due to concerns about the growing number of shootings and other violent incidents at US public gatherings, comic conventions around the country are tightening their cosplay regulations. Some are even banning realistic-looking and potentially dangerous prop weapons altogether.

And not all cosplayers are happy about it.  . . .

The rules underscore the tension between authenticity and safety, which became a serious issue following the May arrest of a man who gained access to Phoenix Comicon armed with loaded handguns, a shotgun, knife, pepper spray and throwing stars.

For the rest of the convention, organizers banned all weapon props, including those made from foam and cardboard. The man, who was wearing body armor, said he wanted to kill “bad police” at the event.

Do they close the schools for this holiday in Los Angeles? . . . Nearly 5K Firearms To Be Destroyed In Annual Gun Melt

Nearly 5,000 guns collected by Los Angeles law enforcement agencies will be destroyed Wednesday morning in the 24th annual Gun Destruction event. …

In the 24 years since the event began, 164,900 weapons have been melted down. They include handguns, rifles and automatic weapons that have been both seized during criminal investigations and voluntarily turned in by citizens.

Oh CehNehDeh! . . . Warning for Americans visiting Canada: Leave your guns at home

The (Canada Border Services Agency) is encouraging Americans to leave their weapons at home or, failing that, to declare them at the border and make proper arrangements for them while visiting Canada.

“Just for a vacation, firearms are not allowed,” Veronica Horne, CBSA chief of operations, told CTV Atlantic on Tuesday. She says the best policy for visitors is to be honest, as getting caught with a concealed weapon at the border will only mean harsher penalties.

“We do have some options that the traveller can look at, as opposed to not declaring and then they lose their firearm through seizure,” she said.

  1. Are there any other events one can think of where large quantities of what are essentially tools are destroyed en masse?

Any town/city ever made a big show of melting hammers?

Damn things build houses and smash fingers, unacceptable!!!

The entire concept is quite alien.

    • Reminds me of book burnings in a way. Can’t have all that dangerous thought out there. People might get the idea they’re supposed to be free or something.

    • I ask why. My father, living in CA, is getting a couple of his guns which were recovered several years after they were stolen. The rest have yet to be found. Of course, if they were used in a crime, or the serial numbers were obliterated, it’s not likely they will ever be returned. Also, if a theft report is filed but the owner can not provide the serial numbers, it is not likely they will ever be returned. The cost of trying to track down the owners of weapons which may have changed hands many times through decades before restrictions were imposed, is prohibitive if there are no serial numbers to track to theft reports. It is a shame that so many firearms, many in families for several generations, or museum pieces must be destroyed. However, they do not have to be destroyed. Where I live, the recovered guns which can not be returned to owners, are exchanged with a gun shop for ammo and other necessities needed by the sheriffs department. The gun shop sells them for whatever the market will bear. Considering what firearms, all long guns, were among the 168 weapons my father sifted through, which came from one bust, it would seem that law enforcement would be, and should be, incentivized to do likewise.

    • “So what will we do with all the steel we have after melting these guns?”
The best (and most unlikely answer):
      “Make more guns?”

Never seems to occur to these idiots that guns are manufactured and are not a limited resource…

  2. Are people really that dumb that they expect the firearms laws in Canada to be the same, or that they just don’t apply to them? Apparently so.

    • How many times have you seen someone on this site say ‘concealed is concealed’? A lot of people flout the law, reasoning that the penalty for getting caught with the gun is less ban the penalty for getting caught without (i.e. Death.).

      • I’d generally agree with those people though, as most of those “no beretta 92s” allowed here signs aren’t legally binding at all.

  3. My solution is just to not visit Canada. Or Mexico for that matter. Same goes of all of the American Demshovik controlled states. They obviously don’t want my tourist dollars and I’m happy to oblige them. Plenty of destinations in the US that still follow the Constitution.

      • “Czech Republic is pretty nifty, shame we don’t have reciprocity with them.”

        Has anyone asked them? 🙂

On a serious note, does anyone here have contacts in the Czech Republic government to float that idea?

I recall some making comments they were making their gun rights along the lines of American rights.

Be kinda cool to carry on vacation…

    • ” Same goes of all of the American Demshovik controlled states.”
      Exactly right.
If California can ban their employees from visiting states that have policies they don’t like, then turn about is absolutely fair play. There is no reason I should visit states that have policies I don’t like.

  4. How many times does it have to be said

Don’t use your range bags for airplane luggage, and vice versa.

    • You would think a flight attendant would have baggage dedicated to their travel needs and nothing else.

  5. Canada is no problem to take firearms if you declare on the way through as I did in May.

Best place though is New Zealand where customs will happily tell you places to hunt if you don’t have anything booked.

As stated above don’t take your range bag as your luggage. I had a fired 30-06 case once and no problems but after that two bags.

  6. Yep to hell with Canada. After they made a murdering terrorist rich I will NEVER spend a dime there. And that travesty of justice in Michigan is even worse. Could we get the NAME of the azzwhole who threatened Mr. Johnson? Jus’ sayin’…who wants to bet the turkey who hates the NRA will be deathly silent on the murder of the white woman by a Muslim Somali cop?!?

    • I’m no happier with that payout than you are, and have made that quite clear previously, but Canada isn’t some giant hivemind. America isn’t just what New York and Los Angeles spew out via their newspapers or TV shows. The same applies to Canada. Upstate New Yorkers and citizens of the great state of Jefferson will understand.

(Also, Canadians who don’t tip are actually Quebecois. Everywhere else it’s 20%)

  7. That is a phenomenal Tracer cosplay.

As a convention goer/casual cosplayer I find it absolutely ridiculous to ban the prop weaponry. It’s half of the challenge of making the outfit (really wish I had some pics of my Ragna cosplay from Blazblue for example) but it’s not just stupid it’s ruining the sport and sport of it all.

  8. Every story here has made me ill. America is, by a thousand cuts dying a slow death. Ok, Trump has slowed it a bit. But the WAR is ongoing. Look at commie kalifornia. I warn all of you, that kalifornia is like an STD. Infectious and spreads.

  9. Canada left-wing prime minister Trudeau….. “There is no core identity, no mainstream in Canada,” and that Canada is “the first postnational state.”

The lack of a firestorm from Canadians to that statement above may suggest that Trudeau is correct and that there is no such identity remaiing. Disturbing to say the least. One big Leftist drone “community”.

I’m guessing there is a solid third of Americans (ooops I mean “world citizens residing on the land mass between Canada and Mexico”) who believe and want the same attutude for America.

The above is a shining example of what TRump was referring to when he speaks about the loss of Western civilization.

Prager of coarse lays it out the best.

    • Canada will go from Postnational to Sharia Dictatorship in two or three decades.
It will be fun to watch when it happens.

    • “The lack of a firestorm from Canadians to that statement ”

The media publishes what they want to publish, and ignore what they want to ignore.

  10. had to look it up, but i recognized that cosplay as one of the hero identities that the boy assumes when he’s doing overwatch. tracer, and that gal in the image is even imitating the little coy atitude the chicky poo characters display when they’re getting bored waiting to be deployed. well done.

  11. Ahhh, Ontonagon, my old hometown. Well, close. Actually was White Pine, 13 miles away. Yoopers don’t usually tolerate nonsense like that.
