Some lessons are just too politically incorrect dangerous to learn . . . Cease and desist order issued for preschool under fire for gun shop field trip

The state of Georgia has ordered a cease and desist order against a Woodstock school that took first and second-graders on a field trip to a gun shop that the owner of the facility called an “educational experience.”

Tammy Dorsten says she was just trying to give the first and second-grade students a history lesson when she took them to Hi-Caliber Firearms as part of an American History lesson. She says since the incident, her Facebook page has been flooded with criticism.

During a state investigation, the state said the academy was licensed as a private school for kindergarten through second grade. The investigation found the preschoolers were cared for in “an unlicensed space meant for a private school.”

Norbert Scheuch out as CEO of H&K . . . Personnel change at Heckler & Koch

The appointment of Mr. Norbert Scheuch as executive director of Heckler & Koch GmbH was also revoked with immediate effect.

Until the appointment of a successor in the near future, Mr. Wolfgang Hesse, the sole executive board member of H&K AG and the sole executive director of Heckler & Koch GmbH, will take over Mr. Scheuch’s duties, in close cooperation with the supervisory board.

Washington State Sheriff Placed On Leave After Video Shows Him Holding Gun On Motorcyclist

A troubling videotape of a King County sheriff’s detective holding a gun on a motorcyclist has resulted in his being placed on administrative leave. Alex Randall, the motorcyclist, posted the videotape that shows him pulling up to a stop line at a red light. The detective then walks up and points the gun at him. The King County Sheriff has apologized to Randall but the department is still refusing to release the name of the detective.

After the detective walks up, Randall put his hands up and said “don’t shoot.” The deputy does not identify himself in approaching Randall but indicates that Randall was allegedly speeding and and driving recklessly.  That still does not explain the gun.

Looters: reason No. 374 to own a firearm . . . Gun group, others react to report of suspect shot in head as Harvey struck

A gun owners group and others on social media reacted this week to news that a homeowner in Harvey-ravaged Corpus Christi, Texas, apparently took matters into his own hands against an alleged looter.

The suspect was coherent at the scene and was taken to Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline for treatment, police said, but his medical condition early Wednesday was unknown.

Soon after the incident was reported, lobbying group Gun Owners of America took to Twitter to share the story.

NiteSite™ RTEK Night Vision Scopes Video Your Hunt for Lasting Memories

NiteSite LLC, the US Sales Division of NiteSite LTD, the UK company and developers of infrared technology for predator hunting, make keeping hunting memories as easy as the push of a button on the patented NiteSite™ RTEK Eagle, Wolf and Viper night vision systems.

Made to use in daylight, as well as darkness, with an existing rifle and scope, the NiteSite RTEK systems allow for a night vision identification range of up to 500 meters (depending upon model and weather conditions). The illuminator module fits to the scope (NiteSite includes a 1-inch and 30mm) by removing the fixing bolt and knob from the clamp and sliding it over the scope tube and attaching the anti-recoil clamp. Then, replace the fixing bolt and knob. The illuminator module slides into the clamp’s T-slot and the anti-recoil clamp slides upwards covering the T-slot. Simply tighten the knob until secure and make sure the LCD screen is facing the eye piece.

What if they play ‘I Shot the Sheriff’ or ‘Shoot to Thrill’ with those guitars? . . . Mexican police trade guns for guitars in hope that mariachi restores public trust

As Mexico’s security situation continues to deteriorate — along with public trust in law enforcement — some police officers in the country are trading in their guns for guitarrónes in an effort to help improve the image of the force.

A group of 21 federal police officers, who also just happen to be professional musicians, have formed a mariachi band in order to show the human side of law enforcement and break down widespread mistrust in the force — a chronic issue in a country plagued by the underreporting of crimes.

A win for Magpul . . . Air Force to Replace Army-Issue Magazines with PMAGs

The U.S. Air Force put out guidance in July that all government-issued M16/M4 magazines – including the Army’s new Enhanced Performance Magazine – will be replaced by the Magpul PMAG.

The announcement occurred in the “USAF AUTHORIZED SMALL ARMS and LIGHT WEAPONS (SA/LW) ACCESSORIES (as of 28 July 17).”

Sadly, this isn’t just a South African problem . . . Hilarious video: Thousands of cops should not be handling guns

Alarming statistics have surfaced pertaining to police members without firearm competency certificates who have been let loose on the streets.

According to Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane’s response to a DA question in the Gauteng Legislature, 2 031 South African Police Service members without firearm compliance certificates are currently patrolling Gauteng’s streets.

Of the 2 031 active members without firearm compliance certificates, 627 are stationed in Tshwane. Ekurhuleni has 351, and Johannesburg has 196. The worst affected stations are Evaton with 45 and Sebokeng with 49 uncertified members. This means that these members are not supposed to be deployed outside the confines of the station as the risks and liability are enormous.

Over a notebook…this is why we can’t have nice things . . . Back to school brawl leads to woman pulling gun at Novi Walmart

“One girl was going to buy a notebook. There was one left, some pushing resulted,” Baetens says. “They began to argue who was the rightful purchaser of that notebook.”

Both duos of women were not backing down, as police and witnesses described the two women pulling the younger woman’s hair. That mother got shoved out of the way as the three continued to fight. That mother then pulled out a gun.

“She’s a valid CPL holder,” Baetens says. “She pulled out her firearm and tells them to stop attacking her daughter while pointing the gun at them.”

The fight quickly ended as customers were seen running away and police were called.

It won’t be long before Iran re-supplies them . . . IDF Hunts for Guns in Overnight West Bank Raids

Security forces continue to crack down on illegal weapons in the West Bank, carrying out a several raids overnight Tuesday, confiscating assault rifles and shutting down an arms factory.

The ongoing raids of weapons factories have greatly reduced the number of illegal weapons that could end up in the hands of attackers, and has driven up the price of a Carl Gustav-type submachine gun – the most popular weapon – from NIS 1,500 in January 2015 to NIS 4,500 in December 2016 and approximately NIS 7,000 in May 2017.

The IDF, Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and Border Police found M-16s rifles in Azun, near Kalkilya, and an illegal weapons factory and more M-16s in Abud, 22 km. northwest of Ramallah. More homemade weapons were found in Beit Fajar, south of Bethlehem, the army said.

  1. Nothing stops the threat faster than a round to the dome…. Also, in that HK pic, are the rounds in that mag shoved in there backwards!?

  2. And what did we learn on the field trip? Cameras are a dangerous thing. Were there no photos, teach would have gotten a pass. Like all field trips, I’m sure there were permission slips involved, so it’s clearly idiots who don’t even have kids there raising the ruckus. Without photos, their flea-brains would have nothing to latch onto and rage about.

It does go to show just how many ‘open minded’ prudes view a gun store *exactly* the same as a normal person views a sex shop or strip club (i.e. their suitability for supervised visits by children)

      • To make matters even more inflammatory, the original article incorrectly stated that the kids were pre-schoolers, and failed to mention either the purpose of the trip or the permission slips. This is how fake news can lead to dire outcomes, for which those making obnoxious posts or outright threats feel no personal responsibility.

  3. Whoa, that off-duty detective or whoever he is should be fired at the very least … and I am thinking prosecution for deprivation of rights under color of law.

      • The cop looked drunk to me. Like he was partially oblivious to what he was doing. I doubt a sober person would have not noticed that camera.

        • Yep. Something not clicking here. Pulls a gun on him, but didn’t even write him a ticket. All he had to do is get his plate #, turn on the lights, pull him over, usual routine. Surprising him out of nowhere with a gun pointed at him in plain clothes is not a good idea. It could be interpreted in multiple ways, and cops don’t want it interpreted the wrong way.

    • Yeah, the cop accused the biker of running “100 mph”, but no citation was given. From “I could take you to jail and impound your bike” to no citation? Lying cop is a liar.

        • We call it painting everyone with the same brush. Nobody likes a liar but let’s prove they are first. We don’t have to put up with cops. The next time our mother is robbed, sister raped, children kidnapped just call a biker that is a traffic violator then we can get back at the police. Problem solved. In the meantime we can run around and talk like a big BS puff of smoke.

    • Cops do not keep or make anyone “safe”. In fact they routinely make people less safe.

Just in this situation alone it’s the officer alone who is endangering not only the rider of the motorcycle but every other motorist who is now slowed or having to react to him being stopped in the middle of the road.

On a highway and you get pulled over? The patrolman is putting the rest of traffic in danger not the “evil speeder”. Now traffic has to watch out for the pulled over vehicles, try to change lanes if possible, watch for other merging traffic, potentially hit the brakes hard, etc. Just letting the traffic flow is much safer. People going slower are often more potentially or actually dangerous than people going faster.

It’s a highway robbery cash grab. What’s the difference if I told you that the guy in the video was just holding the other guy at gunpoint, reaching for his wallet and robbing him? If the rider would’ve gotten a citation he still would’ve been robbed at gunpoint effectively.

No cops. No problems. Time to abolish law enforcement offices.

  4. Gee I would have loved a gunstore field trip when was a kid. We went to the local ice cream factory( the ice cream sucked). Pathetic whiny losers…😫

    • mom says one of their field trips went all the way to detroit to the vernor’s plant where the “bubblers” (as she calls water fountains) ran non- stop ginger ale. hygienic! this would have been circa mid ’30’s…

  5. The Israelis, of all people, should understand you simply cannot stop the flow of weapons.

Lord knows the brits tried when the Israelis were smuggling and making “illegal” guns a few years in the past.

    • Indeed. I got to see an underground ammo factory circa 1948 on my last trip to Israel. As we say now, you can’t stop the signal.

  6. “Washington State Sheriff Placed On Leave After Video Shows Him Holding Gun On Motorcyclist”: I get the feeling there is more to this story. Having been in this cop’s shoes there are one hell of a lot of bikers who drive very erratically AND video tape themselves while doing it. REGARDLESS, based only on what this video shows, I see no reason for the cop to be pointing a handgun at the biker. Maybe he had a reason I don’t know about – that’s the problem with such videos, they are not full length objective views, this one has obviously been edited.

As for the South African Police Video, I think the instructor needed some help. At least she kept it pointed downrange… That guy in the background seemed to be having a difficult time too.

    • I saw this video yesterday from a different source, so I didn’t click the one above… but the guy mentions at the end that the cop didn’t even give him a ticket for anything.

So no ticket, no charges, but still the cop felt the need to pull and point his firearm?

    • The only reason to point a gun at someone is to defend yourself or another person from severe physical harm or death. The motorcyclist may or may not have been a douchebag and driving erratically. But if he had been a threat of harm or death to anyone else on the road, he should have been arrested. That means the cop is either an incompetent fool drawing a gun when it’s not needed. Or he was right to draw the gun and then chose to be an incompetent fool letting an actual threat to safety off without so much as a ticket.

Either way, a suspension isn’t enough. That cop ought to be fired and charged criminally.

  7. “August 29, 2017. The supervisory board of H&K AG, the parent company of the Heckler & Koch Group (“Heckler & Koch”), has revoked the appointment of Mr. Norbert Scheuch as Chairman of the Executive Board and as Chief Executive Officer of H&K AG with immediate effect.”

So, is “revoked the appointment” “with immediate effect” the German version of being frog-marched off company property right *now*, and don’t worry, we will dump whatever crap is in your desk or office in a cardboard box that we will mail to you?

Or is it simply the corporation’s supervisory board’s way of saying to *HIM*…

EDIT – That cop. Jeeze, unreal, except it *was* real…
“You suck, and we hate you *more*”?

    • *grrrr*

The last three lines *should* have read:

Or is it simply the corporation’s supervisory board’s way of saying to *HIM*…

“You suck, and we hate you *more*”?

EDIT – That cop. Jeeze, unreal, except it *was* real…

  8. “… apparently took matters into his own hands against an alleged looter.”

When some shitbag kicks in your door, exactly what other options do you have besides “taking matters into your own hands”? Seems like, in such a situation, matters have been *forced* into your hands.

    • “suspect was coherent at the scene”

Why in the hell did the homeowner stop shooting? Thought letting the thief fall down/drown was a better plan?

      • The object of such an exercise is to stop the threat.
The fact that the target was still alive and talking ( when the police showed up) does not mean he was still a threat after being shot. Someone on the floor, holding his head, with no weapon, is not a threat.

  9. Lying liars willfully, gleefully even, lying. Since when is a PRESCHOOL K-2? Lets call them preschoolers to make it sound reaaaaallllly bad! They were first and second graders and they all had signed parental permission to go.

  10. “… took matters into his own hands…” ?

WTF? Your home is being invaded in the middle of a hurricane. What hands, other than your own, are there to take this up?

  11. That sheriff’s detective aught to be glad it wasn’t me he assaulted. I ride armed.

    I also shoot bike jackers.

    • Except that he did have a police vehicle, with the lights going. Shooting a cop is generally ill-advised, even if he is a pompous *jerk*.

      • That’s not a police cruiser, that’s an unmarked civilian car with a set of $40 lights that plug into your cigarette lighter that anyone can buy. I didn’t say I’d knowingly shoot a cop, but no badge, no cruiser, he didn’t identify himself as police. He looks a little old to be a bike jacker, but I’d probably assume this was a ca se of road rage, which in fact I think that’s exactly what it was, badge hidden neatly in his pocket not withstanding.

      • I don’t know that I would have tried to make a move for my conceal carry while a gun is being pointed at me. The odds of surviving such an encounter go down. But Gov. William is 100% correct that the “cop” was lucky no one tried to shoot him. Unmarked car, no uniform, no badge, no ticket, no partner, gun in hand. I guess anyone should take his word that he’s a cop and comply and assume they’re safe?!? That doesn’t sound like a good policy.

        • As far as survivability, if this isn’t a cop and it is a ca se of road rage, what are your chances of surviving if you don’t draw your weapon? Assuming you carry strong side, you can fake reaching for your wallet. He’s probably close enough to grab his weapon and stick yours in his ribs. And if the situation was as I think it was, he was basically just bullying people with his g un and would be taken completely by surprise to be drawn on. My guess is you’re over 50% if you draw and at the mercy of your attacker if you don’t. Anyway, that’s a split second decision that isn’t always the right one, but sometimes even the wrong decision is better than indecision.

Seeing as how the ‘perp’ had a cam era instead of a weapon, this cop needs to lose his job, his pension and any perks retired cops get. He committed a felony and deserves the LE equivalence of a military dishonorable discharge (which includes a loss of your 2nd Amendment rights – or at least governmental recognition of those rights).

      • What really struck me the most watching this video is that the deputy walked up and said “how ya doing”, did not even identify himself as a police officer until quite a ways into the interaction, and to my knowledge never showed his shield or anything else.

KCSO has some good officers but they do have a long and storied history of being somewhat ethically challenged, shall we say. That’s in the department that just a few years ago had one of their former SWAT officers found guilty of promoting prostitution (pimping his wife), domestic violence, theft, and drug infraction

        • You make some good points. I agree. Reluctantly of course, I feel there is more to the story. Your points are valid.
Some type of hearing and witnesses testify, if the cop lied and was only stopping this guy to bolster his ego he should not be a police officer.

  12. When I was in fourth grade, we had a field trip where, among other things, the principal’s wife took us to a gun store where she bought a rifle for his upcoming birthday. This was way before teh internet days, and the principal and his wife were co-owners of the private school. Anyway, it was the coolest field trip ever. I kept wandering over the case where the .44 magnums were, just to drool.

  13. I think my favorite thing about that RTEK scope is that it doesn’t look like it’s unwieldy and awkward at all. I’m sure having a pound of electronics mounted a foot above the rifle doesn’t affect the balance, especially when it’s offset by a car battery hanging off the buttstock.

  14. Which is it – are they a K-12 school that took 1st and 2nd graders on a field trip, or were they preschoolers?

Or was it licensed as a K-12 school but was unlawfully operating a preschool, a matter totally unconnected to the field trip?

  15. H & K’s Chief Edumacation Officer was relieved (in several senses) after impermissably taking a bunch of schoolkids on a field trip *where they were taught to load weapons wrong.

Said the board: “We design our guns to be abusive without special operator training. What are we, Glock?”

  16. “Until the appointment of a successor in the near future, Mr. Wolfgang Hesse, the sole executive board member of H&K AG and the sole executive director of Heckler & Koch GmbH, will take over Mr. Scheuch’s duties, in close cooperation with the supervisory board.”

    “I AM the Senate”

  17. They were ordered to cease and desist when it was discovered that they were running a school without the proper permits. Now, if they had NOT gone online, no one would have checked the permits and they would still be a school.

Rubbing anti-gunners’ noses in it is not the way to play nice.

    • Ah, I see.
You are saying that anyone found with an illegal gun should be treated like an illegal alien under Obama, and simply let go? In a country without a Second Amendment?
What other laws do you think should be ignored?

  18. Off duty cop, aggressive biker? Okay assuming fake news is correct and this cop that is not getting paid as he is off duty is just out stopping bikes that are not doing anything, too bad, bad cop. I find it hard to believe. He is out of line and should have just proceeded and let the biker kill himself or someone else? Nope, he decides to be a hero and do the right thing, only something has him hung up and he does not issue a violation, could be sobriety, I doubt it. The way he is holding the gun it would have been ill advised to draw down on him regardless of how slick we think we are.
Too bad, this guy is duty bound but lacks the finesse to pull it off. Should have written the jerk biker and we would not be reading this. Off duty only mean lack of pay, not responsibility. Biker knew exactly what he was doing, and in the coming months his traffic offense record will reflect that.

    • The only reason to draw a gun on someone is because they are an immediate physical threat to you or someone else. Should off duty cops pull over reckless drivers? Sure, I’ll sign off on that. Should off duty cops approach traffic stops with weapons drawn and pointed?!?!?! F*CK NO!!!! ARE YOU F*CKING SH*TTING ME CALLING THAT PIG A HERO?!?!?! That cop didn’t write him a ticket because he knew his dash cam would be looked at if he did and his supervision would see what a total FLAME DELETED he is.

I am willing to wager everything I own that if you’re ever pulled over and the cop comes at you cursing with his gun drawn and pointed at you, that you’d be singing a different tune. I’d also be willing to wager that in that instance some internet douchebag would be calling the cop a hero and you a jerk. Think about that.

      • Nashh, I don’t buy it. He is not stopping this guy because of the color of his bike or for fun. Maybe the cop is nuts but I do not have any info on that. I would have written him and in my state a civilian can bring a motor vehicle complaint if the violator is a little nuts. Given what I saw in the video the cop is too aggressive and he met a whacko violator who is probably nuts, but crafty. I a surprised he does not have concealed take down lights on an unmarked cruiser. I love hero talk. If anyone comes at me cursing with a gun not identifying as a cop they will not need to worry about a suspension. Are we assuming he has a dash cam in an unmarked cruiser not used for traffic? I love talk of pigs, back in the day my reply was, the only pig I know is your sister or mother. It usually got the tough guys really pissed and locked up. I think the cop is soft also the biker if he broke the law should pay the price of being an idiot. He is not an innocent bystander.

    • Actually Fort the “cop” broke Washington state law by attempting a traffic stop in a unmarked vehicle. Fuck him, hope he ends up in gen pop.

  19. I think that cops get a lot of unfair negative coverage and I am generally supportive of the work they do. That does not mean that ALL negative coverage towards police is unfair. This cop should be fired, criminally charged, and should become a prohibited person.
