“Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr. announced the creation of a task force within the Justice Department to combat an ‘escalating danger’ from ‘homegrown’ terrorists within the United States,” latimes.com reported last week. Yup. We missed it – despite the fact that this website has been warning that the feds could target pro-gun groups (and websites) under anti-terrorist statutes. But the announcement could hardly be more relevant than it is today, what with the revelations surrounding the Las Vegas cop killers’ political affiliations (including the NRA). What’s the bet the pro-gun side will feel some federal heat, now? Not that the announcement went there. In fact . . .

The task force will chiefly comprise leaders from the FBI, the Justice Department’s National Security Division and U.S. Attorneys. Called the Domestic Terrorism Executive Committee, it is a recreation of a task force formed by former Atty. Gen. Janet Reno after the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. The task force fell into disuse after 9/11.

Though the original task force, which was little known, focused mainly on right-wing zealots, Holder’s version is aimed at U.S. citizens or visitors radicalized via the Internet. Holder said the government will continue to fight terrorists abroad.

“But we also must concern ourselves with a different type of threat. We face an escalating danger from self-radicalized individuals within our own borders,” he said.

Notice that there’s no mention of the word “Islam.” Could the Internet-born “self-radicalization” apply to Americans who become gun extremists gun rights advocates? Yesterday, that would have seemed far-fetched (a.k.a., paranoid). Today, not so much.

Horrific terror incidents like the tragic shootings at Fort Hood and last year’s Boston Marathon bombing demonstrate the danger we face from these homegrown threats,” Holder said in the video posted on the department’s website.

“Now — as the nature of the threat we face evolves to include the possibility of individual radicalization via the Internet — it is critical that we return our focus to potential extremists here at home,” Holder said.

Potential extremists? As in pre-crime? Oy vey.

    • Now, (if not already), simply making a comment anywhere on the internet critical of government could potentially get you investigated, or put on some kind of secret black list which will make any kind of government job unattainable, or forced into some kind of mental institution thus making you “eligible” to have all your firearms confiscated.

  1. Get ready for GITMO! Rise and shine Camp TTAG!

Seen THE LIGHT yet — on the “War On Terror”? Figured out who the “Terrorists” are?

Oh — you’ll see the The Light alright – it will be on the pic rail right below the barrel of the……

  2. I see this going nowhere good. Don’t we already have DHS, including the FBI, doing this stuff with regard to actual terrorist threats? This will be little more than a witch hunt for sentiment unpopular with the administration.

  3. Not at all surprised, wondering what took them so long, and yes they will target pro Second Amendment folks.

  4. Hey, remember all those people who refused to vote for Romney because he would be “just as bad as Obama” or just stayed home.

Here you go. Thanks so much guys. There is no way a Republican unfriendly press would let Romney or anyone without a “D” behind their name get away with this crap.

    • I recall quite well. He would have been just as bad as Obama. Close enough for government work, anyway.

  5. Maybe he can take a look at one E. Holder, a radical who was last seen smuggling guns into Mexico to cause violence and destruction, thereby eroding popular support for Second Amendment freedoms. That, boys and girls, is not a conspiracy theory but a conspiracy fact. Yes, your government is afraid of you, and yes, they want to enslave you.

    • Not nearly afraid enough. Governments should be terrified of their citizens. Effing paralytic with sheer terror.

Meanwhile, thousands of illegals are streaming across the border like ants. They will never speak English. They’ll all going to save Walmart, after the Minimum Wage Reduction Act of 2015, for $4 an hour.

Elsewhere, Mexican families are putting their CHILDREN on planes to the U.S., to be raised in Indoctrication Centers, I suppose, and they’ll grow up and vote to repeal the Second Amendment.

Can we afford to wait for this to happen? And, there’ll be false-flag shootings of cops every week to increase demand for this Amendment “we just can’t afford the luxury of” anymore…

  6. “Self Radicalization”

This allows them to focus on individuals as opposed to groups. Every single person is now considered his own little al qaeda.

    • Excellent point. Wait, are we tight with al-Queda this week, or wiping them from the face of the Earth?

      • The Taliban claimed the White House last week when daddy Bergdahl said the 1st muslim prayer with Obama smiling. So I’ll give you 2 guesses.

  7. Excellent. Obama and the media doin’ their part to help the Dems in November. Let’s see if they can keep this drum beating for the next five months.

  8. The FBI says they don’t solve crime anymore – they focus only on “homegrown terror”. It’s the same story with Holder undt der Homelandt Securité.

I don’t know who you think they’ll be looking to frame, but to me it’s crystal clear: Tea Party folks and pro-2A people.

They’re comin’. Keep your powder dry and your bug-out bags by the back door. I don’t really have anywhere to go, and most possible routes involve bridges. Unsatisfactory.

    • They’ll get elected by landslides, this year and in ‘016, but they’ll recruit the knuckle-draggers of the 2A rabble as brownshirts as they double down on all their wars. Then, you know, as more security is needed, they’ll conscript them. Then we’ll really be in a pickle!

    • They’re signed onto the program, too. The object of to cut off all avenues of normal redress. What was it JFK said?

“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.”

  9. In Rule of Law, Misrule of Men (2010), Harvard professor Elaine Scarry outlines how the misbegotten PATRIOT Act, passed in panic following the 9/11 atrocities, has turned the constitutional understanding of private citizens and open government upside down. “Our inner lives become transparent, and the workings of the government become opaque,” Scarry writes.

Terrorism is just a convenient excuse for government to simply use to continue to reduce your liberties. When does it all end? There is no boogeyman in the closet just an elected class trying to control people.

This is just one more item in a list of desperate measures of a failed president

“What embitters the world,” G.K. Chesterton wrote, “is not excess of criticism, but an absence of self-criticism.” The Obama of 2008 promised he would end divisiveness by bringing us together – instead, as president, he has sought to end divisiveness by forcing everyone to accept his views. And in the end, he has achieved neither.

I keep waiting for people to finally get pissed off. Hopefully many of the bench sitters will finally get up to vote this fall.

    • Waiting for real terrorism is messy and uncertain. What if it doesn’t happen the way we want? Our leaders today understand that for maximum efficacy, a government is best advised to supply it’s own terrorists.

  10. This reminds me of the radio talk show host Michael Savage. Like him or hate him, he was placed on the UK “no entry to our country” list so as to give some balance to the numerous Islamic terrorists they were barring, in order to be “fair”.

  11. Whoa, whoa, whoa, weren’t we told Fort Hood was workplace violence and not terrorism? With all of D- baggery of this administration it’s getting hard to keep score.

    • If you don’t know how to use your scorecard, please ask the neighbor sitting next to you for help!

  12. “…Holder’s version is aimed at U.S. citizens or visitors radicalized via the Internet.”

That “via the internet” part is significant. They are not just after the 2nd amendment, here. They are after the 1st as well.

  13. Oh wow, this sounds a lot like the brown shirts… That would be the Nazi SS for those who don’t know..

  14. “self-radicalized individuals”

LOL! I love that slip – it passively admits to all the other individuals that are radicalized by the U.S gov’t (as opposed to the ones that aren’t…of which there are none).

  15. I served 25 years in the Army, I belong to the TX Libertarian Party, I bought a copy of Atlas Shrugged online. I figure I’m high on the regime’s list for internment.

Funny note. An idiot in my neighborhood has one of those RC drones with a Gopro camera mounted to it. He crashed it in my sister in law’s backyard two houses down. She had no idea what it was and called me. I looked at it and told her it must have been looking for me.

    • Sounds like your sister-in-law has a peeper trying to video her. I hope she kept the plane and the camera.

  16. “Potential extremists? As in pre-crime?”

And isn’t it thought-provoking that the international network of NSA and similar SIGINT organizations in the US and worldwide (including the Russians and Chinese, albeit once-removed but actually interlocked), the FBI and INTERPOL for the LE physical arrest and detention side, and data mining by Google and the like make indexing the Internet and compiling irrefutable dossiers on anyone trivially simple these days. And of course, the legal detention directives and facilities are now in place and vetted, just to put a pretty bow on the package. Who profits? Why CCA and their ilk, of course – it’s only good business.

    Hmmm…

  17. Oh good grief, just because you own a gun and are conservative doesn’t mean you are in their crosshairs. It’s an executive committee – no designated funding or manpower other than the already appointed leaders of various agencies.

“Pre-crime” it may be, but the only way to elevate you in this game of whack a mole is to be prominent. Post in extremist websites? Tag. Have a facebook page with links to them? Tag. Post extremely negative views on police, the government, etc and deliver detailed threats against them? Tag.

In other words, just like the Wikileaks, if you are smart, you do what real terrorists do – quit being a prominent user of the internet posting hate thought right out where they can see you. Duh.

And let’s not forget how well the system already works, to cops shot in LV and no prior restraint despite knowing the male offender had plastered his views on youtube and served time.

Prior service might be on a list? All 20+ million of us? Yeah right, including the Joint Chiefs and every bad boy Delta operator likely on payroll thru Xe overseas. Definitely on a watch list. Really?

If you are really worried about being watched, then get off the keyboard and go grey. Stop visiting gun websites, camp out a lot more, spend time building relationships with the local cops and sherriffs. It’s the ones who are always on edge around them and never polite who get tracked on radar – flocks of birds get little notice other than avoidance.

No doubt someone is already worried Eric Holder himself will knock on the door to entrap them into selling a sawed off shotgun to an undercover agent. I suspect they were already outed as not being an actual vet from (name of war here) so the stolen valor gig is out. Time to move on to being persecuted by secret government overwatch agencies.

Ya know, they are reading this right now – on your computer. Right?

    • I guess you just dodged their crosshairs, Tirod. Nice goin’. Keep on dodgin’, keep on dissumulating.

    • Yes. Just like the President of the United States would never order the execution of an American Citizen and his 16 year old son without a trial. Like the IRS would never target groups based on their political leanings, or release their tax and donor information to certain members of Congress. Like the NSA without warrants would intercept phone calls and emails from Americans. Like the President would never openly violate a law passed by Congress that he himself signed into law and release 5 prisoners from Guantanamo without notifying Congress. Like the President would never grant defacto amnesty to illegal aliens by refusing to enforce the law, resulting in Army bases being overrun with over 200,000 illegals.

No citizen, you have nothing to fear. War is peace. Work will set you free. Enjoy your bread and circus, don’t worry about your freedom. We have your best interests in mind.

  18. Ah, Sister Janet… it’s like the 90s all over again with even more tyranny. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

BTW: I’m speculating that in the a month, but no more than two months, we will see another murderous rampage much like in Las Vegas. It’s only a guess based upon nothing more than that there are more out there and they might be encouraged by the last one. I hope that I’m wrong, though.

  19. George Washington & co. must be rolling in their graves!

We now have a White House administration and a corrupt Attorney General who openly break laws, now setting their sights firmly on those who might fight back against the full scale tyranny that is most definitely progressing.

I was highly skeptical, but now relatively certain that Obama is intent on destroying the US from within. Granting his Muslim Brotherhood fundraising brother a 2.5 year post-dated tax exemption (within 30 days no less) should have been the wake up call to many. The real terrorists are embedded deep inside the US Government now and destroying America is their goal.

If R3 kicks off, make sure you can provide support to the skilled vets that were targeted under false “PTSD” claims.

    • It’s clearly true. And the utter destruction of our economy is in their sights. The War Between the States killed fewer than 400,000 of us. What will happen next is nearly incalculable! I shudder to think of it.

A Zombie Apocalypse would be a walk in the park by comparison.
